When you're not farming, you can pass some time fishing in the various areas around the island. Fish can be a great supplemental income, but they are also
good for fertilizer, and in particular many villagers will request them. There are many fish to collect, and some require a bit of ingenuity to reel in. This guide
serves your reference for how to catch every fish!

Bait

Most fish can simply be caught without any bait, but some fish have more particular tastes. Additionally, bait causes fish to bite down faster, which saves a lot
of time. Sam sells regular bait quite cheaply, so it is definitely worth your while to buy some. There are also some specialty baits which can only be made in your
Windmill, and which require a recipe to unlock. You can acquire recipes for additional baits by completing Cyril's requests.

Rods

There are some locations and fish which require upgraded rods to fish. Any fish requiring a rod upgrade is noted below. The Master Rod upgrade can be
purchased at Gus's Smithy and is required to fish at the Beach and Lighthouse Outlook.

To Sell or Not to Sell?

Fish can be a good source of supplemental income, especially in the early game. However, I generally recommend stockpiling fish as opposed to selling where
possible. Fish are valuable for many reasons; they are needed for requests, cooking, fertilizer, bait, and of course, main story requirements. For this reason I
advise only selling fish if you know you don't need them. The Mines are a great source of income, so saving fish for other uses is a better use of resources. I've
provided a chart below of fish that you'll definitely need at some point, to help when deciding whether to sell or not.

Is there a list of which fish to keep and which to sell?

I've added a list above. I recommend stockpiling most fish unless you absolutely don't need them. I just put most of my haul in the fridge after I catch them so
they'll be readily available for quests/cooking. But the list above provides the fish you definitely need so hopefully that helps. I tried to complete it to the best of my
ability from my experiences, so I apologize if anything ends up missing. Treat it as a general guideline.

I cannot catch anything - I have tried with and without bait and fish get away and farmer is just angry what am I doing wrong

If u wait til the "!" Appears by the farmer thats when u pull the rod or click the button...then when the bar pops up, just keep clicking on the button to catch the fish.

Nope, rod level only affects how may fish you catch, as it turns out. For example, with a Glorious Rod you can even catch around up to five fish at once. The better
the rod, the more chance you have to get multiple fish at a time.

I've tried selling 50 each of Good and Excellent to Sam and no luck yet, so maybe not.
Way to test is save your game, sell it all off to Sam, see if he offers it. If he doesn't, reload so you get your bait back.

I find I have more luck catching them while fishing from the pier during rain... but you can also get two of them as a reward for completing the Harvest God's first
request, page here.

Finally caught an olive flounder. Used delectable bait, which I received from Gareth. I caught it at 8:30am in the fall on the far end of the beach dock aiming the rod
towards the bottom left corner of the screen. Finally.

One more update, caught a second one in the same spot at the same time the next day using good bait. Seems to be rare though with good bait because I have
tried with it many many times.

Im tryin to fulfill Cyril request which is delectable fish feed. But in his request it didnt show how much did he want. And there is an exclamation mark in his request.
What should I do?

Hi Sally - you can get some Olive Flounders by completing the Harvest God’s 1st request. The requests you get each day are random so it may take a bit to get his
request. I suggest holding onto the requests you’ve got if you want a faster chance to get the Harvest God request. Because for example if you complete a request
from Dean you may get Dean’s next request before you get the Harvest God’s.

I caught 2 olive during winter off the pier at the beach. It was sunny, 4:40pm and I used good bait. At the end of pier facing straight ahead towards left of screen.

I wish I could post a picture. I just caught 2 olive flounders in a row on the beach dock. I tried all the way around and pointing to the square furthest into the ocean, in
winter starting at 6pm on a Thursday (idk this thing is rare thurs might help) with the 2nd rod upgrade and good bait is how I caught mine. I took a picture of the spot
after I caught the second one, but it's on my phone... no url?

So apparently there is only one pond in the swamp where you can catch Super Red Arownoa. It’s the long, skinny pond on the far right against the border fence. In this
one pond I have caught regular, green, banjor, golden and super red arownoa during the daytime in fall with Ragnarock bait plus perch, yellow perch, spotted gar and
black bass. Hope this helps!

This is such a stupid question, but what hours do the times of day actually correspond to? Morning seems to be until noon, but then I caught an akame at like
11:30...and you're penalized (although not too much) if you stay up past midnight. Are the other three time slots three hours each, or is each time slot 6 hours?
