ACTIVITY:

Me, Myself and I

Write an essay to answer the question below. In writing your essay, always
remember the three Cs (content, clarity, cohesion).
TOPIC: According to Mahatma Gandhi, one must “be the change you’ want to see in the
world.” In this light, how can you embody this ethos in your status as an individual?
Guide Questions:
• What are the things you want to change?
• How do you intend to do this feat?
• Why do you think this change is a necessity today?

Mahatma Gandhi famously said, "You must be the change you want to see in the world." In
other words, although life changes are inevitable, we can also initiate personal change, so we
can rise to the challenge and become a bigger and better person as a result.

The things that I want to change and that I want to see in this world are to forgive and let go. I
also want to change myself because I must be the change I want to see in this world. Change is
always permanent in this world. The only thing that cannot be controlled is change. But we can
always make efforts to bring about the right kind of change in the world. Change allows us to
move forward in life and experience new and exciting things. When you don't actively work on
evolving yourself, life can become stagnant. Learning new skills or working on your inner self
can bring about changes you never knew were possible.

I can intend to achieve this feat by trusting and being honest with myself. Despite the fact that
we all know how important it is, honesty can be challenging. Being honest with yourself can
force you to deal with some hard truths that are uncomfortable to acknowledge. This makes it all
the more important. Lying to yourself will only hold you back from personal development.

Change is a necessity today because change is inevitable in life. Mahatma Gandhi said, "You
must be the change you wish to see in the world." This means that we must set an example and
implement the right kinds of changes in order to make the world a beautiful place. In other
words, if we want to see a change in a place, we should be the ones to do it first for ourselves.
When we want others to follow a good habit and we insist on it, first of all we should follow that
habit. For example, only when we are punctual can we teach others the value of punctuality.
That is how others will accept the change.
