Why is Learning English Important

Language is the mean of communication. Most groups of society have their

languages. Some of them appear as the top global languages. Most people in the
world hear about English, Arabic, and Mandarin. However English is the most global
spoken language. Then if a man wants to catch a global goal, he has to master
English.
Everyone recognizes that English is an international language. English is used
in writing and speaking by many people all over the world. It can be either as a first
or second language. We even hear British, American, Australian, and even
Singaporean English. Those various names of English are used as the first language
in those countries. Furthermore, some countries have their languages as a mother
language but also use English mostly in daily communication.
Besides usage in daily interaction, English is also used as a key to open doors
leading to scientific and technical knowledge. No wonder we find manual guides and
instructions for many devices written in English. Even if we have a pack of instant
noodles, we will see the cooking instruction also written in English. This transfer of
science and technology will include many countries in economic, social, and political
development.
Finally, the most easily seen in the importance of learning English is that most
top requirement in filling job opportunities is the ability to use English; active or
passive. Job applicants who master English are more favorable than ones who do not.
The above facts prove that everybody needs to learn English if he likes to
greet the global era.

Compromise in Our Life

In daily life, every people faces many problems. To solve the problem, there
are a lot of ways that can be used, one of them compromised. Compromise is one of
the ways people solve a problem by making a win-win solution for each side.
Although not all the problems can be solved by compromise, compromise can be
chosen as the way to solve a problem sometimes such as in the traditional market
between seller and buyer, between two or more people when they are working in a
group, and traffic accident. In any situation compromise is necessary.
In the traditional market, a lot of sellers and buyers meet to do the trading
process. In this place, the problem they have to solve is about how to get a deal on the
price of some goods. Seller and buyer usually use compromise to solve the problem
of the goods’ prices which the seller sells or the buyer wants to buy. In this case,
compromise occurs when a buyer asks for the price of goods. If the price is too high
for the buyer, the buyer does not agree with the price and she or he will bargain for
the lowest price they can get. If there is a deal between two sides, a compromise has
been done. Both sides will get the advantages of the transaction they have done, but if
there is no deal, the reverse happens. In the transaction above, both seller and buyer
want the benefit from it. To get benefit from the trading process, whether they are
aware or not, they use compromise. After there is a deal between the two sides, both
of the get advantages. Compromise makes both seller and buyer can solve the
problem without one of them being disappointed.
Compromise is also necessary when we work in a group and discuss a
problem. A group consisting of two or more people with different behavior and
emotions. They have their way or idea to solve the problem. In this situation,
compromise is needed to get the best way to solve the problem. Compromise happens
when every part of the group gives their idea about how to solve the problem they are
discussing. After all the ideas received, there is just one idea reputed as the best way.
Sometimes we do not agree with the result of the discussion, but we have to accept it.
When we can accept the result of the discussing whether or not agree to the result, we
also do compromise. Compromise in this situation can solve the problem in a group,
the problem of the difference of ideas. Sometimes we can not think about just
ourselves, we also think about the group, because we are the group’s part.
In traffic accident situations compromise also can be the best way for us to
solve our problems. When people get into an accident on the road, sometimes they
prefer to do compromise than bring the problem to the police officer. Compromise in
this situation is the best way to solve the problem. If they bring this problem to the
police office, it will make the problem more complex than before. Compromise is
done when the victim and the suspect of the accident get a deal about the way they
solve the problem, such as by giving some money to the victim. Compromise make
the problem between the victim and suspect be solved in peace. The victim of the
accident got the money for recovery and his or her car repair. The suspect can avoid it
by getting some more problems with the police. There we can see that compromise
can be used as the simplest way to a problem. Compromise makes both sides, the
victim and the suspect of the accident can solve the problem well.
In conclusion, although not all the problems can be solved by using
compromise, we need to use it as the best and first way to solve the problem. The
problem such as in the traditional market, working in a group, and the traffic can
solve by using compromise. Compromise makes the problem solved simply and also
gives benefits to both sides. We should consider using compromise as the way we
solve our problems.

Banning motorbikes
is necessary for housing areas

Motorbikes are a nuisance and a cause for great distress. Even

though motorbikes are considered the most convenient form of transportation, I
think they are a hazard to humans, animals as well as the environment. I think
motorbikes should be banned in housing areas due to the following reasons: the cause
of the unreasonable amount of noise, air pollution, diseases, and accidents.
First of all, I would like to point out that motorbikes are a major contributor to
the pollution in the world. Research has shown that motorbikes emit a deadly gas that
is dangerous to the environment. Consequent long-term emission of gas from
motorbikes is a major contributor to global warming (Science Daily). Secondly,
according to a report from BBC News Channel, motorbikes are also responsible for
causing diseases such as bronchitis, and cancer and are a major trigger of asthma and
high blood pressure. Sort of the diseases is so ghastly that they can kill people (BBC
News. 23031).
Furthermore, motorbikes create so much noise. There is "vroom vroom" noise
everywhere. It is extremely difficult to sleep. Parents with infants find it
extremely challenging. The moment their babies fall asleep, one or another motorbike
passes by and the baby wakes up. It is also arduous for children to concentrate on
their homework. Experts think that if there is extreme noise, it can lead to deafness
and lack of concentration in children and adults (Fields, 1593).
Finally, motorbikes are responsible for horrible accidents. In some cases, there
are deaths. Motorbike riders go so fast that they are unable to stop on time thus they
end up hitting other people or animals. Many times a lot of animals are trampled and
found dead on the road. Motorbikes are known to be the biggest killers of the mad
(Fields, 1993).
In conclusion, from the arguments above, I strongly believe that motorbikes
should be banned from housing areas.
