Risk Management Plan
The end goal for the activity is for you to come up with a risk management plan for a TREE PLANTING outdoor
activity.
INSTRUCTIONS: Come up with a risk manage plan by filling in the following details.

Activity: TREE PLANTING

Planned Site of the Activity: ZCWD Muruk 1, Canucutan Village, Upper Pasonanca, Zamboanga City
Risk Management Plan
Hazard
(Identify the specific source of hazard)
1. The participants' potential sources of hazard include a lack of skills and
understanding about the fundamentals of tree planting, as well as bad health, age,
Factors coming and attitude issues. Furthermore, the organizer or leader may lack understanding
from participants: of environmental risks, have poor coordination and management abilities, be
unable to respond to emergencies, and have inadequate planning and
communication skills.
2. The temperature, the terrain when there has been frequent rainy weather in that
area, rock stability owing to the location of the activity, which might consist of
Environment
unstable rock formation, the site's grassy ground, which may be home to a variety
factors:
of harmful creatures or insects, and darkness are all possible causes of hazard in
the environment.
3. The potential sources of hazard for equipment can be when participants do not
have the necessary attire and footwear for tree planting, they do not have
Equipment: appropriate transportation to the location, they do not have the necessary
equipment and tools for tree planting, and they do not have the necessary supplies
to make their activity work.
Risk
(Identify a specific risk that the hazard my bring)
4. The possible risks that the hazards may bring to the participants include accidents
from improper tree planting, which might harm or wound the participants.
Factors coming
Participants may experience overwork or exhaustion, as well as an allergic reaction
from participants:
to plants and other allergens. Lastly, participants may confront misunderstandings
about tree planting like the misuse of certain materials such as flammable products.
5. The risks that the hazards may bring from the environment include the risk of a
Environment landslide and the falling of large debris or rocks to the site of the activity, the risk
factors: of having insect bites, stings, and rabies, which can cause certain viruses and
diseases, and the risk of having tetanus infection.
6. The risks that the equipment used in tree planting may bring include being exposed
to too much UV radiation due to wearing inappropriate clothing, the chance of
Equipment: slipping or falling and injuring yourself due to inappropriate footwear, the risk of
being engaged in an accident on your way to the activity site, and the risk of hurting
and wounding the participant due to lack of light.
Risk Assessment
7. After identifying the risks posed by the participants, there is a chance that the
participants' lack of knowledge and experience may result in accidents due to
improper tree planting, such as conducting the procedure incorrectly, which could

damage and wound the participant, and so on. Furthermore, as a result of their
from participants:
exposure to nature, people may develop allergic responses to it. These hazards can
be mitigated by providing an orientation before the activity and doing a background
check on the participants.
8. After identifying the risks provided by environmental factors, the possibility of
having an unstable terrain due to frequent rain, which might lead to soil erosion
and rock falls, was identified. There are also several kinds of insects and critters
Environment that can cause bug bites and are susceptible to viruses and diseases. Participants
factors: may walk on anything sharp due to the lack of light, which might result in tetanus
infection. These dangers can be mitigated if they analyze the location, inform
participants about correct activity clothing, and prepare a flashlight in case they
finish late.
9. After identifying the risks given by the equipment used for tree planting,
participants may not wear the right apparel and footwear for tree planting, which
may result in too much exposure to sunlight and the possibility of slipping or
falling. In addition, driving an inappropriate vehicle to the activity site, as well as
Equipment:
failing to charge their flashlights beforehand, might lead to accidents. These
dangers may be avoided or minimized if they wear appropriate clothing and
footwear for planting, inspect and verify whether their vehicle is suitable for the
journey, and charge their flashlights ahead of time.
Risk Reduction Strategy
(What should be done to reduce or manage the risk)
10. To reduce or manage the possible risks caused by the participants, they must be
knowledgeable in the basics of tree planting. Furthermore, having a basic
understanding of the profile of the participants aids in risk reduction.
Factors coming
Understanding the participants' ability level will help the facilitators to modify and
from participants:
expect specific issues and demands. Furthermore, discussing the danger and
ensuring that all participants are aware of the situation might help them quickly
react in an emergency.
11. To reduce or manage the possible risks caused by the environmental factors, the
organizer should first inspect the site's surroundings and inquire with the people
who live nearby or the barangay whether the location is prone to landslides or rock
Environment falls. They must also carry a first-aid kit as well as an epi-pen if someone is
factors: susceptible to bee, wasp, or hornet stings, or if they have other allergies. In
addition, they must bring the essential supplies such as umbrella, jacket, and insect
repellent if there will be unexpected rain, excessive sunshine, and bug bite
repellant.
12. To limit or manage the risks caused by the equipment or tools used in tree planting,
participants and facilitators must wear adequate personal protection equipment
(PPE) and wear proper footwear. Also, they would want to check the weather
before going to the activity site to see if there will be a sudden downpour or storm
Equipment:
to avoid accidents and be prepared with their belongings. In addition, essential
equipment that will be used must be properly recognized and tested to ensure that
it is in good functioning condition in order to avoid accidents and to have a
successful tree planting activity.
