“The Prophecy”

It was winter in Paris and I was walking under the huge and lean
Eiffel Tower. I’m graciously smiling as I look at Angela’s camera. This is
the dream Angela and I wished to happen; travel to Paris together, and
now here we are enjoying life to the fullest. We took selfies as we
brought a cup of coffee and baguettes from a random bakery in the
streets. Also, Angela and I look so good with our thick furry coats and
our luxurious black winter boots. Oh heavens, we look like the grim
reapers in some Korean dramas. It was freezing cold so we decided to
go to a restaurant for dinner because it is almost night time. Angela and I
have been best friends since elementary. We dreamed together back
then and I’m happy that we are slowly seeing our dreams come true
now. We’re both civil engineers currently working in Greece, and we are
just here in Paris to calm ourselves and travel a bit this winter break. It
was great working in Greece, we were both promoted last month as
head engineers, and this is the life I was dreaming ten years ago.

During our fine dinner, while we’re both sipping our wine, we just
remember that there’s gonna be a High School reunion of our batch.
Unexpectedly, we bumped into one of the restaurant’s chefs, and we
were both surprised to see him. It was Marvin, our classmate back in
high school. We just knew he’s been working as a full time regular chef
cook here in Paris. We asked Marvin about the reunion if he’s coming
and he said that he is. We all smiled while thinking about it, and so we
planned about getting back home after years of living here in Europe
because of work. The reunion will be in January, probably after fiesta
and we are both excited about it. Anyways, it’s still December so we
have to think about it more.

Time passed by like a wind, and it is now thirteenth of January.

Angela and I are ready to go back home. We carried our luggage as we
walked in the airport here in Greece. God, we are terribly excited about
this trip. We'll be able to see our loved ones back home again.
 As I entered the airplane, tears from my eyes escaped as I saw my
pretty best friend smiling widely as she greeted the passengers inside
the plane. Our eyes met and her jaw dropped as she saw me almost
screaming that time I saw her face. I know the other passengers and
crew are watching but we really don’t care and we just hugged. It’s
Kathleen, my high school best friend. It’s been years since I last saw her
personally. We usually talk through the phone and she’s always
travelling all around the world since she’s a flight attendant now.
Goodness, she’s even more gorgeous now. I just wonder if she is still
single. We decided to catch up more during the reunion because she’s
also coming back home after this flight.

While on the plane, Angela and I were mesmerized as we saw

Kathleen looking so happy with her job. This was her dream years ago,
and I am truly grateful that she’s happy and successful now. Not until we
heard the pilot’s announcement, both of us were shocked as the voice
was very familiar to our ears. If I am not mistaken, this is a friend from
back in the day. “This is James Dinorog, your captain on this flight.” The
pilot said. I am very surprised as I hear the voice from the plane’s
speaker or something. It is James; he’s already a pilot now.

Moving on, when we landed in Manila, I immediately chatted

Kathleen to let her know that we are on our flight going to Bohol, finally.
Also, I messaged James that I was one of his passengers during today’s
flight and he replied that he saw us a while ago at the airport too. He
said, “See you in our reunion then.” So I just realized that Kathleen and
James are workmates now. Good for Kathleen, she was once simping
on James back then.

Right now, it is our reunion. The venue’s in Panglao and I heard it’s
a resort that one of my classmates owned. I asked Angela about the
resort’s owner but she also didn’t know. Angela and I are both in my car,
and we’re currently listening to some random songs. But before we could
reach the resort, we had to stop over at the Kew hotel to pick up
Christian and Luigi because they had just arrived from a long flight from
the USA. Christian is a mechanical engineer in Boston; he’s been
designing machines, mostly cars there. While Luigi, he’s a successful
civil engineer in New York and he teaches engineering in New York
University sometimes. I can still remember that we could hardly solve a
math problem back then, but look at us now; all well and just living
happily.

Four of us are in the car now, all talking about our old memories
back when we’re at high school. It’s funny to think that after all the trials,
from solving math problems, almost failing our majors, and now we are
here, just laughing at those stupid yet memorable days.

Now that we arrived at the venue, we were so shocked and

surprised because we just realized that Errol and Erwin owned the
grandest and luxurious resort near the beach. We’ve never heard from
them for years now. Oh goodness, who would imagine these? Errol and
Erwin are good at cutting classes, but look at them now, both fine
hoteliers and resort owners.

When we got inside, we were greeted and even teased about us being
tourists. We also bumped into Reuben, Lawrence, and Budoy that are
now world class game programmers. It was good seeing them.

Angela and I decided to take some champagne when we saw

Glaiza, Hazel Ann, and Hazel Jane laughing next to the buffet table. We
had a great time talking to each other. Glaiza is now a certified public
accountant, Hazel Ann is also a civil engineer in Australia, and Hazel
Jane is a teacher and even owns a school in the city. This trio is now
very well successful in life, but that was obvious back then since they’re
all hard-working really.

However, it became much cooler when Laaganer's squad

appeared in the venue riding a huge white SUV. Firstly, Elnard and Faith
stepped in—and they are holding each other’s hands! Christian said that
they are engaged, Elnard is currently a lawyer in Canada and Faith is a
manager in some huge business in Washington. Secondly, Kyle and
Kevin are both chief captains of a ship and they dress so well in today’s
event. Third, it’s Lenny, and according to Christian again, Lenny is
married to Kevin just months ago. Lenny is currently a registered nurse
in Manila and is serving in some random charities in so many provinces.
Fourth, it’s Anna Lea and Erick Luiz, they are cousins, Anna is a
domestic flight attendant and Erick Luiz is a seaman also. Fifth, it’s
France and I heard he’s also the chief captain of a ship. Lastly, it’s Dina
and Joey; I saw their wedding photos months ago, happily married. Joey
is a professional drag racer and a mechanical engineer while Dina is a
licensed doctor.

Of course, the reunion wouldn’t be complete without the Ex-B

boys. Shout out to them! Jundylle is here with his mates looking so
gracious and good-looking gentlemen. Jundylle is currently an actor and
a full time television host in Kapamilya Channel. As well as Raydene,
who is currently an action star and we can see him in the movies playing
a role just like Robin Padilla. Moreover, Joseph and Cirilo are architects
in a popular firm here in Bohol. Lastly, Glenn is currently a maritime
company owner and a chief captain too.

The venue became too crowded. Luigi and Christian excuse

themselves to go to talk to some of their friends. Jeho just arrived with
his Mercedes Benz and we caught up for a bit. He told me he is currently
studying in a flying school in New Jersey to pursue his dream of
becoming an astronaut and also he is practicing sometimes in NASA.
Jaymarc even came to our table as he greeted us. According to
Jaymarc, he is residing in Italy owning a wine manufacturing company
and invited us to visit his winery sometimes. I was glad, so I couldn't turn
down his offer. Besides, Italy is just a few blocks away from Greece.

Angela stood up when Kecy, Ronalyn, and Lovely appeared in the

hall. They were all screaming just like before. Lovely’s laugh was very
funny, as Ronalyn. They embraced each other with a hug. They were
Angela’s high school besties. For you to know, Lovely is a well-known
prosecutor here in the Philippines, she’s even a vice governor in our
province, and she’s doing so well. Ronalyn, on the other hand, just got
her job as a psychiatrist after studying medicine for years. Then Kecy is
a pediatrician here in Bohol, and also, her clinic will soon hire Angela to
be her engineer. Minutes later, Yeisha and Mylene came to the event
too. Yeisha is currently pregnant with her eldest and she’s taking a break
from work. Mylene works as the manager here in Errol’s resort. It’s great
to see them again after so many years.

Most of my classmates in high school already had a family. But I

can see them doing so well because they also have a regular job with a
proper salary. Just like Camille, she married an American guy and she’s
now living in the USA so she couldn’t attend the reunion today. Mae
Jane and Denise are also having a family and they are both teachers in
UP Diliman. Melvin is also a doctor in Australia and just like the others;
he also couldn’t attend here today.

Moving forward, Jhonrey came with his expensive big bike and I
teased Angela when she saw him. We all know their love story was very
popular back in those days. Jhonrey was greeted by everyone and he
also greeted us all. Christian Nino, Leonard, and Aljun came too.

We are supposed to start the event when Kathleen and James

come in. Kathleen wearing her white satin dress and stiletto heels,
James on his white long sleeve buttoned shirt. Everyone was shocked
when the two came in with James wrapping his hands around Kathleen’s
waist. I laughed when I saw Kathleen was blushing and she immediately
came to me and we hugged. They even got teased by some of our
classmates because no one thought they’d end up on each other.

The event started and we all knew we were still not complete.
Kathleen and I exchanged glances when we realized that Sherry Khen is
still not arriving. I was impatient to see Sherry Khen because we haven’t
seen each other for so long now. We only talk and chat through the
phone and not personally and to be honest, I badly miss that bitch. Until
the glass door came to open and there revealed a perfect shaped body
wearing a blush pink silk dress and pumps, jet black hair, and a pretty
face of Sherry Khen. For sure, everyone looked at her from head to toe
now. They were in awe but Kathleen and I stood up and ran to the lady
standing near the door as she spread her arms so the three of us could
hug. I cried when we hugged, because it has been eight years since we
last hung out.

This is us, eight years later. The journey was tough, the road was
rocky, but at the end, we reached our destination. We might be living our
lives so differently but we are still successful, not because we are
earning well but we are happy and content with our lives. The road was
long but the adventure must go on.
Note: I am so sorry if some names weren’t found. I kind of forgot some of
you guys but I’m always rooting for you all. I hope you pursue what you
want to do in the future, please don’t give up, and always trust the
process. There’s always a bright future waiting for you. Love you guys,
truly. <3
