Position Paper - form of writing used in academic and professional context that
summarizes the writer’s arguments supporting a certain issue. It is persuasive written
discourse reflecting an individual’s view about an issue that is often controversial,
requiring one’s definitive stand.

Concept Paper - an idea or a concept and explain its essence in order to clarify the
“whatness” of that idea or concept. It answers the question what is it or what about it. It
starts with a definition, either formal or informal, of the term or the concept and
proceeds with an expanded definition and an analytic description of the aspects of the
concept.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Stress - reaction of the mind and body to a stimulus that disturbs the well-being, state
of calm, or equilibrium of a person. There is a common belief that stress is unhealthy.
Stress as a Stimulus - stress is caused by situations that may be life threatening or life
changing such as separation, moving into a new home, or having a new job. These
situations are often called stressors.
Stress as a Response - the way the body reacts to challenging situations. This
involves the interactions between hormones, glands, and nervous system where the
adrenal gland drives the production of cortisol or better known as stress hormones.
Norepinephrine - triggers the body’s reaction, such as increase of heart rate, higher
blood pressure, and respiration, to prepare the body for action.
Stress as Relational - when the person is experiencing stress takes a step back to look
at the situation that is causing the stress, and assesses it.

Assessment - when the person allows reasoning to prevail and weigh the relevance or
irrelevance of the situation.
