Interviewer: Hello, my name’s Kirby A. Briz. I’ll be leading our interview today. I am
currently working with my research regarding to the sudden fare hike of public vehicles in
our Municipality which is Maco. I’d like to start by thanking for you making the time to
speak with us. Your feedback is valuable and will be used to inform our fellow Macoeños.
Just to confirm, we’d like keep this interview to 60 minutes. Does that still work for you?
Interviewee: Yes.
Interviewer: Great. If you need a break or to stop at any time, please let me know.
Interviewer: During this interview, I’ll ask you a few questions around the fare hike of public
vehicles in our municipality. I’d like to note at the outset that I’m pretty new to this. I’ve only
loosely read various background articles and talked with a few of my peers. So I’ll start
broad. Later on, I’ll ask you directly about the topic of our research.
Interviewee: Understood.
Interviewer: Please be aware that there are no wrong answers. We’re doing interviews like
these to hear things from your perspective. Also, please don’t worry that you’re going to hurt
our feelings. We’re doing this to know your thoughts and opinions, so we need to hear your
honest reactions.
Interviewee: Okay, I understand.
Interviewer: Great. Shall we start?
Interviewee: Yes.
Interviewer: To start, I’d like to hear a little bit about you — where do you live? And what’s
your occupation?
Interviewee: My current is in Pangi, Maco, Davao de Oro, yet I work as staff member of a
university in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur.
Interviewer: Is your work has something that requires travelling?
Interviewee: No, but I do travel a lot since I work at Agusan del Sur and I regularly come
home in Maco, Davao de Oro.
Interviewer: Thanks for that context. Now, I’d like to ask you a few questions about the subject matter
of my research.

Does the sudden fare hike of public vehicles affects your daily lives?

Interviewee: Well it has a negative impact in my budget, specifically for my budget in transportation.
Interviewer: When was the last time you did travel in our municipality using public vehicles? Is the fare
“okay” for you?

Interviewee: The most recent was on May 18, 2022, I attended my nephew’s birthday celebration.
Absolutely no, I think the fare is too much.

Interviewer: What can you say about this issue or problem?

Interviewee: I think the sudden fare hike of public vehicles is very drastic and too much. The
minimum wage for us workers is very low but then the products and services we avail are
keeping more expensive.
Interviewer: What do you want to wish or have regarding to this issue?
Interviewee: I hope the fare of public vehicles should be lower or regulated at least to avoid
overpricing for the fare.
Interviewer: Before we finish, what did we forget to ask about?
Interviewee: I think there’s none.
Interviewer: Would you be open to speaking with us again in the future?
Interviewee: Yes, of course.
Interviewer: Thank you so much for your time. I do really appreciate your participation and I
can assure we will keep your anonymity and any information about your personal life. May god
bless you.
