ACTIVITY 2

1. How are the organisms adapt to the environment. Give 3 statements.

 This happens by the process of natural selection. By natural selection, the nature of
the species gradually changes to become adapted to the niche. If a species becomes
very well adapted to its environment, and if the environment does not change,
species can exist for a very long time before they become extinct.

 Behavioral Adaptation Antelope squirrels become less active when food is

scarce to preserve energy.

 Physical adaptations are body structures that help an organism find and

consume food and water, protect itself, cope with tough environments, and
reproduce.

2. How are water formed in the hydrosphere? Enumerate them

- Water moves through the hydrosphere in a cycle. Water collects in clouds, then falls
to Earth in the form of rain or snow. This water collects in rivers, lakes and oceans.
Then evaporates into the atmosphere to start the cycle all over again.

3. What are the gases present in the atmosphere? Enumerate 5

According to education site Vision Learning, Earth's atmosphere is composed of

approximately :

 78 percent nitrogen
 21 percent oxygen
 0.93 percent Argon
 0.04 percent carbon dioxide
 As well as trace amounts of neon, helium, methane, krypton, ozone and hydrogen, as well
as water vapor.

4. Give 5 properties of living organisms.

 Environmental responses
 Change and growth
 Reproduction
 Having complex chemistry
 Energy processing
5. Draw/Illustrate the Ecological Hierarchy and give a brief description of each.
