The Pagay Festival is held to commemorate the town of Alicia's foundation anniversary and to
showcase the town's production of Pagay, which means Palay in Ilocano. Every year on September 28, the
"Pagay Festival" coincides with the town of Alicia's founding anniversary. It was previously known as the
Alicia Town Festival, but Mayor Cecilia Claire N. Reyes renamed it Pagay Festival in 2010. The event
attempts to preserve the town's cultural identity and tradition while also promoting the municipality's
principal agricultural product, pagay (Ilocano for rice), which serves as the municipality's main source of
income and trade mark.

There will be a lot of extra-curricular activities conducted to showcase the talent in arts of every
Alicianos. It may be in the form of dancing and singing, musical performance, craftsmanship, artistry, and
even technological or digital arts. The dance and sing activities includes the competition of street-dance
that uses the main theme song of the town which is that “One Alicia: Aliciano ako” by Ryan Mindaro while
using a variety of colors and props in their costume to showcase the beauty of pagay in Alicia , hip-hop

includes a variety of digital contests like vlog-making whereas they feature the exquisiteness of their
barangay through their cameras and phone recording videos while using wonderful cinematography
effects. Since the Pandemic, TikTok has been a major trend for every Alicianos that’s why there is also a
competition conducted for the TikTok performers of Alicianos to witness their talent and skills in creating
and producing TikTok videos. In addition to these extra-curricular activities are the trade-fair that
promotes the products that are proudly made by the Alicianos and the arts produced by the ancestors of
the land.

These arts and performances have already began a long time ago since the first establishment of
the town called Alicia. Years have passed and many Mayors have already changed but the culture and
tradition of the Alicianos are always preserved and commemorated. Many can see through the arts and
performances in the Festival the richness and beauty of the town that has been passed through
