JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Regional Housing Director


Department: Housing Department
Reports To: Executive Director
FLSA Status: Exempt

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Directs and coordinates activities concerned with providing advice and technical assistance regarding
housing to local governments, developers, and UAACOG staff by performing the following duties
personally or through subordinate supervisors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Supervise day-to-day operations of Self-Help Housing, Section 8 Housing, Housing


Rehabilitation, Housing Counseling; assume responsibility for additional housing
programs/projects as added to UAACOG operations.

 Write funding requests to sustain and increase UAACOG housing programs.

 Shall develop policy and standards in coordination with advisory committees for guidance in
establishing and maintaining uniformity in operation of housing projects and programs.

 Shall study operation of housing projects and programs, note trends and needs, and evaluate the
efficiency of housing programs.

 Shall participate in public meetings and serve on committees to stimulate efforts of national,
local, and private housing agencies and to emphasize housing needs of low-income families.

 Shall prepare procedures and instructions for execution of housing projects based on analysis of
operations and regulations.

 Shall consult with and advise housing personnel concerning needed improvements in housing
operations.

 Shall develop, with the appropriate project staff, a specific and detailed plan of action which
may include estimated construction plans, estimated family participation schedules, and
realistic cost estimates.

 Shall develop with all subordinate staff members, a specific employee performance plan which
shall be reviewed on a regular basis to insure a timely achievement of project contractual
obligations.

 Shall supervise 5 to 10 employees in the UAACOG Housing Department. Shall carry out
responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Shall
interview, hire and train housing staff; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance;
reward and discipline as needed to enable optimum performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

Individual should possess a degree in public administration or business or five years experience
with housing programs; possess two years management and/or supervisory experience; be
experienced in formulation and preparation of detailed statistical reports and preparation of detailed
budgets; must have demonstrated ability in working with low-income families and various
segments of the community; should be familiar with basic residential construction techniques.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must possess a current Colorado Driver's License.

Language Skills

Individual must have ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals,
professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports,
business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and
respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Individual must have ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest,
commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts
of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Individual must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete
variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of accounting software;
database software; development software; internet software; spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel)
and Word Processing software (Microsoft WORD).

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to
finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach
with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving
mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is
usually quiet.
