9. COMMUNICATION
All staff members are critical and integral to the successful delivery of quality laboratory services. As such,
effective communication is essential. We aim to cement working relationships by creating an environment where
communication is encouraged.
Staff meetings are held on a regular basis and these present opportunities to share information and debate
issues.
The memo “Laboratory Circular” is emailed to all staff as necessary to disseminate essential information. There is
also a WhatsApp group where staff can share ideas, views, pertinent issues, and concerns. Communication is a
two-way process, and all staff members are encouraged to air their views.

10. STAFF PERFORMANCE AND DEVELOPMENT

Training and development of our staff is central to the laboratory. We view training as the tool for reinforcing
existing skills and for gaining important new ones. Training opportunities are available to all staff to help their
personal development and increase the quality of service that the department provides.
Your performance and training needs will be discussed at regular meetings with your department supervisor or
the Laboratory Manager. If, however, you have any specific concerns or wishes, you may raise these at any time
with the Manager or Director.
