1. Aim/Overview of the practical:

Doing foot printing on IP and Domain Name Server for finding more
information about them.

2. Task to be done:

To do foot printing on IP using Lookip, whois, lookup.icann tools to gather

information about a particular domain or IP.

3. Theory:

Whois is a widely used Internet record listing that identifies who owns a domain
and how to get in contact with them. The Internet Corporation for Assigned
Names and Numbers (ICANN) regulates domain name registration and
ownership. Whois records have proven to be extremely useful and have
developed into an essential resource for maintaining the integrity of the domain
name registration and website ownership process. In this example we are using
www.netflix.com as the domain name on which we are performing footprinting.
Lookip.net

LookIP.net is a free-to-use IP lookup tool with the sole purpose of researching

background information on any internet address. An address can mean anything
that you use to access another computer or device on the internet: an IP address,
a website URL or a domain name.
Lookup.icann:

The ICANN registration data lookup tool gives you the ability to look up the
current registration data for domain names and Internet number resources.
