Aim: Configure and understand working of network devices hub, switch,


and router.
Hub: It is a networking device that allows user to connect multiple PCs to
single network. It works as a common connection point for devices. Hub
operates on Physical layer.

Switch: It is a networking device which operates at data link layer of the


OSI model. It connects devices in a network and use packet switching to
send, receive or forward data packets over network. It uses MAC address to
end data packets to selected destination ports. It supports unicast, multicast
as well as broadcast.

Router: It is a networking device that operates at layer 3 of OSI model. It


connects two or more packet-switched networks. It connects different
network together. Also, it is a path selector. It has primarily two functions
i.e., managing traffic between these networks by sending data packets to
their IP addresses and allowing multiple devices to use the same internet
connection.
