LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET NO.2
UNIFORM CIRCULAR MOTION

PLEASE USE A SEPARATE ANSWER SHEET!

I. TOPIC: UNIFORM CIRCULAR MOTION

II. LEARNING SKILLS FROM THE MELC:
After going through this module, you are expected to relate laws of motions to bodies in
uniform circular motion. Specifically, you will learn to:
1. Describe uniform circular motion.
2. Explain how the first law of motion (Law of Inertia) is related to objects moving in uniform
circular motion.
III.INTRODUCTORY CONCEPT:

The movement of a body moving following a circular path is called a circular motion. Now,
the motion of a body moving with constant speed along a circular path is called Uniform Circular
Motion. Here, the speed is constant but the velocity changes.

Following are the examples of uniform circular motion:

a. Motion of artificial satellites around the earth is an example of uniform circular motion. The
gravitational force from the earth makes the satellites stay in the circular orbit around the earth.
b. The motion of electrons around its nucleus
c. The motion of blades in the windmills
d. The tip of second’s hand of a watch with circular dial shows uniform circular motion.
IV.ACTIVITIES: Answer the following questions. Write the letter of your answer on your answer
sheets.

1. The movement of a body following a circular path is called ___

A. Non-Uniform Motion C. Circular Motion
B. Rectilinear Motion D. Linear Motion

2. In circular motion, the velocity changes and the speed ___

A. also changes C. increases
B. remains constant D. decreases

3. In circular motion, acceleration and velocity are ___

A. together C. perpendicular to each other
B. parallel to each other D. none of the option

4. From second law of motion, force is given as ___

A. F = m/a C. F = m-a
B. F = m+a D. F = ma

5. Give at least three (3) other examples of uniform circular motion aside from the mentioned above.
