B. Developmental Activities
Show of a cupcake. How will I divide this cupcake if I want to have equal parts? Slice
into 2 equal parts as the children observe.

Ask: How many equal parts are there?

Point each part as the children count.
Tell that each part is 1 of 2 equal parts or ½ of the bibingka, then write ½ and say. “This is a
fraction”.
Guide the children to read it.
Explain that the whole bibingka was divided into equal parts.
The “2” below the lines tell us that there are 2 equal parts. The “1” above the line tell us
that we are talking about 1 of the 2 equal parts.

1 - 1 of the 2 equal parts

2 - 2 equal parts
A1. Activity- Group children into 3 groups. Present the different activities. Read the instructions.
Group 1-Color half of the following shapes and write ½ on the other part.

Group 2-Circle the shape that is divided into equal parts.

2.

3.
Group 3-Draw a circle. Divide into 2 equal parts. Shade one part then write ½
on the other part.

A2. Analysis
-How do you divide the objects?
-Are they equally divided?
-How many parts were made out of 1 object?
-What do you call each part?

A3. Abstraction
What do you call one part of a whole if the whole is divided into 2 equal parts?

-If the whole is divided into 2 equal parts, the part is called one-half (1/2).

A4. Application
