The Importance of

Social Distancing amid Covid-19 Pandemic

As we know, Why are we stripped of school ? And why don't anyone do the
activity outdoors ? This is all caused by Covid-19 virus. Covid-19 virus or what
we all know as corona virus is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to
person. that Virus was first identified during an investigation into an outbreak in
Wuhan, China. Some patients have pneumonia in both lungs, multi-organ failure
and in some cases death.
That is why All state governments advocate for all its people to implement
social distancing wherever they are. Social distancing is reducing the amount of
outdoors activity and interaction with others, reducing direct face-to-face contact.
These steps include avoiding going to crowded places visited, such as
supermarkets, cinemas, and stadiums. So far everyone has heard the call from the
President, Governor, town leaders and healthcare professionals to begin practicing
social distancing. Signs of you might have the virus is first, you’ll get mild cough.
Secondly, after a several hours the cough change to fever or your throat gets really
sore. And finally, you’ll experience shortness of breath. If got any of these please
check up immediately.
But why is this such an important practice? What we know so far is Covid-19
is behaving differently than the common flu, SARS or even MERS. In those
diseases the infected person begins infecting others once they start showing
symptoms, I.e. fever, cough, sneezing. Those studying Covid-19 and the rapidly
changing situations across the globe now know the new virus can be spread
person to person even if the infected person is showing no symptoms. This is why
social distancing remains an urgent defense to spreading the virus past the point of
no return.
While many of those infected with Covid-19 recover, a percentage will
develop a more harsher case of the virus, others will require hospitalization and
those with underlying health conditions and are over the age of 60 may develop
severe cases that could lead to pulmonary collapse and death. For young healthy,
this is important to do social distancing. Social distancing is not necessarily to
protect against the virus but a way to stop the spread of Covid-19 from relatively
healthy people to a population more ‘at-risk’ of developing serious complications.
I think this is the time that we have to show the attitude of obedience and
commitment to the authorities by staying at home as long as this virus becomes a
pandemic of the world. Please commit to strict physical distancing of six feet or
more from non-household members if you must be in public for necessities such
as groceries, outdoor sports, medical needs. we can be exemplary citizens and do
the right thing. We can do this together. I know I am not the only one in this
position. Do it for all of us.
