Slot Time (Tsl)

 The maximum time a master waits for the complete reception of the
first octet (11 bits) of a response from a slave.
– If no response is received in the Slot Time the master will attempt a retry
or continue with other actions.

Largest Station Delay Responder (max TSDR)

 The maximum time a slave could need to send the first bit of a
response back to the master.

Smallest Station Delay Responder (min TSDR)

 The time a slave has to wait before sending a response back to the
master (to calm the bus).
 Masters sends this parameter to the slaves  has to be set in the
master.

Quiet Time (TQUI)

 The time after which the bus electronics or software are set from
sending to receiving mode.
– During the sending mode reflections will not be received and disturb the
bus electronics.
 RULE: TQUI < min TSDR
 It is good to set the quiet time to 9 (standard value 0).

Setup Time (TSET)

 An extra time the master waits before sending a new message to a
new/another slave
 Setup time is usually used when many media transitions (repeaters,
FO couplers) are used and some delay is caused by these
transitions.
 In cranes the number of transitions is small and this parameters
does not need to be changed.
 Standard value: 1

Target Rotation Time (TTR)

 The maximum time provided for a token to pass round all bus
masters.
– Normally not the real rotation time  cannot be used to determine the
reaction time of the bus system.

Highest Station Address (HSA)

 In S7 configuration this parameter is called Highest PROFIBUS
Address.
 The highest bus address the existing master will look for a new
master (in multi-master networks).
– In Profibus networks with only one master this parameter should not be
changed.
 A master with bus address higher that the HSA will not be able to
access the bus.
 In S7 configuration this parameter is called Highest PROFIBUS
Address.

Maximum Retry Limit

 Maximum number of repeated messages that a master sends if no
response is received from a slave station.
 It is good to set the Maximum retry limit to 3.
