By : Firyal Hilmi Maghfiroh Ilahi

Talk about talking. Speaking is a basic ability possessed by every human being. Talking is
not just opening the mouth. But there must be thought beforehand so that the spoken sentence
can be understood or not offend those who are listening.

In doing public speaking is actually not much different from speaking in general. It's just that
the audience is listening a little more. So, if everyone can speak, then everyone who speaks
can do public speaking. Public speaking, is not an absolute talent handed down by God. But a
skill that can be developed by anyone.

Then how to perform well in front of the audience? some of these tips can help you. The first
phase is pre-public speaking. The most important thing Before doing public speaking, you
must know who your listeners are. By knowing who your listeners are, you can prepare what
kind of communication style you will bring. And what vision do you need to convey. Prilly
Latuconsina is a celebrity with the ability to speak and an attitude who once said good in a
talk show at the University of Diponegoro. "As a public speaker, you must understand the
situation and be flexible and adapt to conditions," so knowing your audience is very
important even before you write your speech text.

Before speaking in front of many people, you may feel nervous or your heart is racing.
According to Graham D. Bodie of Washburn University wrote in his research that Public
speaking anxiety (PSA) is a common thing that people feel. If you feel this way you have to
be able to fight it. Calm yourself down by taking a deep breath and then exhaling slowly.
Make sure you are comfortable in this situation and tell yourself that everything will be fine.

When you start performing, believe in yourself and the opinions you have prepared. Start
your public speaking with unique and creative things so the audience will remember you. A
moment after the audience is locked with the material you convey. Bring them into your
world. Make sentences as if they felt it. Don't let the audiences stare at their gadgets. Make
them think that it would be a shame if they just missed your words. Don't forget to play with
the expression, intonation and emphasis on the part that you think should be remembered.
You have to make a deep impact on your audience so that your speech doesn't just pass
through their brains.

If all the material has reached the listener, close the speech with something unforgettable.
Like a quote or attraction maybe? A good speaker is a speaker who can make the audience
bring 'something' after they go home. What is that something? You can choose it yourself.
This can be happiness, contemplation or a thought that trigger their soul. Whatever you
choose, hopefully the audience will consider you are worthy.
