INTERPRETATION:

A. SUMMARY
- Statistics are described as “Data Science” and date back at least to the fifth century
BC. This includes analyzing, interpreting, presenting, and organizing data. Not only
that, but it also studies the system of methods of collecting, processing, and
analyzing the numbers (quantities) of large quantity phenomena to understand their
inherent nature and regularity (substance ) under specific conditions and times.
Statistics is one of the most applied sciences today with a major role in all
quantitative research.
- Therefore, probability and mathematical statistics are important science in the broad
and rich fields of application of human life. Along with the robustness of science and
technology, the need to understand and use random tools in the analysis and
processing of information is becoming increasingly essential. The knowledge and
methods of probability and statistics have effectively supported researchers in many
different scientific fields such as physics, chemistry, biology, agronomy, economics,
etc.
- With the knowledge that has been taught in the process of learning and learning, this
subject helps us understand more about the analytical thinking of numbers and data
to apply in the research process; the most correct and coherent thinking based on data
or phenomena observed in daily life. Recognizing the importance of social networks
in the current era of industrialization – modernization, the use of social network
platforms seems to have become popular and gradually become an integral part of
human spiritual life. However, social networks are like double-edged knives, besides
the positive effects that social networks bring, internet abuse can lead to serious
phenomena such as Internet addiction disorder (IAD)
- Therefore, in order to better understand the influence of social media platforms and
the current needs of people, especially young people with the Z gene, our team
decided to implement the project.
“The Need to Use Social Networks of Generation Z “
 By the knowledge gathered from literature, articles, and field surveys. We have used
the statistical method of Google Form survey, and Microsoft Excel data processing
software to make the most accurate conclusions. Although the report still has many
shortcomings, through this, people have an overview of the influence and needs of
young people to use social networks.

I. INTRODUCTION TO STATISTICAL RESEARCH PROJECT:
1. Introduce:
- Society is growing, and the age of technology is coming to the throne. In the past two
decades, the world has developed; constantly changing thanks to the emergence of
science and technology has had a strong and positive impact not only in the
economic and business fields but also in all aspects of human life, contributing to
making human life easier and more modern, thereby improving the quality of life.
Along with the development, people have witnessed the explosion of information
technology – the Internet has increasingly played an important role in people,
especially the extraordinary development of social networking sites has been
happening everywhere in the world.
- A social network can be understood as a website or online platform with many
different formats and features, making it easy for people to connect from anywhere.
A social network can be easily accessed from a variety of means, devices such as
PCs, laptops, phones...
- Due to the benefits that social media has brought, in recent years, the increasing and
widespread use of social media has made a certain impact on the youth segment of
Vietnam today, especially the young people of the Gen Z generation. The use of
social media is not merely sharing the news but also meeting the entertainment and
learning needs of students, keeping up with development trends is indispensable in
the context of industrialization – The modernization of the country
2. Reasons for researching the topic:
- The use of social networks is an integral part of everyday life to connect with the
community, connect with everyone around. Especially during the complex Covid-19
pandemic, social distancing policy must be strictly adhered to, so social media
becomes a powerful tool to support people to learn and work conveniently and
safely. Especially with the young generation of Gen Z – the generation that has a
good grasp of trends, sensitive to the innovations of the Internet, the passion and use
of social networks are obvious.

- Therefore, social networks have had a huge impact on the psychological life of
young people. Therefore, the survey on the need to use social networks and the
impact of social networks on young people is extremely necessary, so we
implemented the project " The Need to Use Social Network Of Generation Z "
3. Objectives of study
3.1. General objective:
- Survey on social media needs of young people.

C. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
I. OVERVIEW OF THE SITUATION OF THE SURVEY
- In general, based on the survey results, the young generation in general and especially
the Gen Z friends in particular are not too unfamiliar with social networks in the public
era, they all use social networks for many purposes. difference. It will continue to
become popular and known to more people with a rapid spread.

- Some of the most prominent social networks today are: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok,
Zalo… and so on. With a friendly interface, a social network is an online platform
with many forms and features, making it easy for users to access and use.

- Because of that, the amount of time using social networks through the survey has
tended to increase more than before. And most people who took the survey agree with
using social media more often.

 The current social network is occupying a high position for people's attention, so it
will have a certain impact on users. The analysis below will clearly show the positive
and negative effects of social networks from the perspective of consumers (present-
day Gen Z).
Our group's research was carried out by data collection method, using "Questions Form"
with self-answered information by the subjects.

II. Description of the study sample:
There are three charts we use for the survey a Pie chart, a Column chart, and a Dual Axis
chart
- The pie chart is showing a static number and how categories represent part of a
whole and the composition of something. A pie chart showing numbers as
percentages and totals of all segments need to equal 100%.

- Dual Axis chart charts allow you to plot data using two y-axes and the same x-axis. It
is used with three datasets, one of which is based on a continuous dataset and another
that is more suitable for grouping by category. This should be used to visualize a
correlation or deficiency between these three data sets.

- Column charts are used to compare different categories or can compare a category
over time

same 6 people accounting for only 6%. In addition, in the “Other” option, we can see
that 9 people from other age regions account for 9%.
4. Are you using social media?
- It can be clear to see that, of the total number of people surveyed, many people use
social networks frequently with 58 people and occupy the highest frequency, 37
people normal use, followed by 5 people who use social networks very little use, 2
people who do not use social networks.

 Nowadays, the demand for social networks keeps increasing, social networks become
indispensable tools in people's lives because of their benefits of social networks.
Therefore, it is extremely necessary for people to choose their favorite and
appropriate applications.
The survey results show that:
- Facebook is the most used social network with 95 people. Penetrating Vietnam since
2009, with superior technology features and a high level of interaction, Facebook is
becoming the most popular and popular social network in Vietnam, leading the list of
popular Social Networks in Vietnam.
- Instagram with 77 people who acknowledge the use of Instagram. In 2010,
Instagram was born and became a potentially growing social network. With content
focused on the arts, entertainment, food, travel & fashion.
- Zalo with a frequency of 64 from the survey. In December 2012, Zalo officially
launched followed the mobile-first model and quickly attracted a large number of

14
Vietnamese users thanks to the product's good and stable operation on the
Vietnamese network infrastructure. Zalo is now the largest "made-in Vietnam" social
network in the world.
- TikTok has 61 surveys from people, China's music video and social media platform
was launched in 2016 in China as Doyin and in 2017 TikTok was launched for
markets outside of China. TikTok allows users to view and create music clips, record
short clips, and edit them with unique filters and special effects to the clips.
- Twitter received 25 votes from the survey. It is a free online social network service,
which allows users to read, text, and update small pieces of news called tweets. This
social network is popular in the US and European countries, but not popular in the
Vietnamese market.
- Snapchat has 9 votes. It is also a free online social network service, which allows
users to read, text, and update pictures same as Facebook, however, it is not popular
and used by many people in Viet Nam because Snapchat's advertising is quite modest
than other social media.
- In addition, students also use many other social networks such as Yahoo, Weibo,
YouTube, Doyin,.. with 8 votes.
 People have more and more choices in using social networks in Vietnam and around
the world to connect and share information not only to satisfy their interests but also
to help us capture information more quickly, connecting people and communities.

Time spent on social media by students using the survey:

- The majority of social media visitors chose “Whenever you have time you spare”
(31 people), the percentage is 30%.

15
- The duration of social network access is 5 to 8 hours, and under 5 hours a day has a
number pretty close to about 30 and 29 people, and each period accounts for 29%
and 28% of the percentage frequency.

- Only 12 people chose to use social media for over 8 hours a day, and that's only 12%
of the time.

 The numbers have shown that people tend to use social networks during rest periods
to let their minds relax more after a tiring period of work and study. Only a small
percentage of people are "addicted" to going on social networks and using their time
for useless entertainment.
8. What is the purpose of your social media?

 With the goal of creating a valuable community, social networks have brought useful
features to users. People often use it for different purposes.

- Based on the survey results shown in the graph, we can see that the entertainment
demand for the young generation is quite high today, social networks are found after
stressful school or work hours. Essentially, the funny short clips on TikTok or the
posts on the forums are designed with memes, making most people feel stressed after
surfing social networks. Therefore, entertainment has the highest choice, with 70
participants choosing entertainment as the purpose of using social networks
(accounting for 82.4%).

- At the same time, contact with everyone also has a high rate of entertainment,
(accounting for 82.4%, with 70 participants choosing). Currently, social networks are

16
the place to connect people from all over the world together, people far from home
can easily see their family through video calls or can make friends with many friends.
more people, expand relationships.

- Besides, using social networks to update information every day has been selected by
60 participants (accounting for 70.6%), updating information daily is still an
important factor for today's times, speed News spread on social networks very fast
and will be updated hourly. Instead of dry newspaper pages, social networks have
appeared with short clips showing relatively complete information for consumers.
Therefore, in addition to entertainment, news also dominates the majority of people.

- The purpose of using social networks for learning has 59 students, with 69.4%, social
networks are a place to store, share and exchange learning of students everywhere,
helping students access resources necessary and fast documentation.
- Similarly, social networks are an ideal place to promote products to customers, and
make business activities easy, to do business, 13 students voted, accounting for
15.3%.

- But more prominent is buying and selling online, with 28 people choosing,
accounting for 32.9%. Currently, many sellers mostly choose social networks to call
for sales in the form of Livestream or buyers do not need to go to the store to buy
anymore, the younger generation will mostly tend to order goods. more online.

- In addition, students who also use social networks for other purposes accounted for
the lowest percentage of 1.2%

17
- Through the survey, it can be easily seen that the majority of participants choose to
use social networks between 20:00 and 00:00 (with 49 choices), accounting for 48%.
Because the participants are limited to the range of 16 to 25 years old, most of the
young people after a tiring day of studying and working, perhaps during this time
they have more free time than other times.

- Usually, at this time frame, the interaction will be much higher than usual, so people
often share posts on their forums. Besides, sellers will take advantage of this time for
Livestream sales, the speed of spread will be many times faster than usual, which
will attract more people interested.

- Besides, the two-time frames 12h00 - 17h00 and 17h00 - 20h00 will have the number
of votes respectively 14 (accounting for 13.7%) and 29 (accounting for 28.4%), the
number of votes is less than the time frame of 20:00 - 00h00. During this time, most
of you will go to school, work, participate in outdoor activities, or rest..., so the
number of people using social networks during this time will decrease.

- In addition, in the 7:00 am - 12:00 pm time frame, people often use social networks
less often, with only 5 people (accounting for 4.9%), perhaps the morning time is the
best time to focus on work and study. practice.
 In other opinions, young people often use social networks and in their free time,
when they want or have them, they will use them even all day.

10. What difficulties do you face when using social networks?

- Although most people use social networks, many people are still very concerned
about the unpredictable harm that social networks bring.

18
- In the 102 responses we received, the majority of participants said that using social
networks too much will cause distraction in work and study, with 61 choices
(accounting for 59.8%). The age limit in the survey range is those who are still
studying and working, so with a platform as diverse as social networks, they are
easily caught up in interesting, increasingly innovative, and trending trends. become
more distracted with work, study stress, and pressure.

- Similarly, because the majority of students are surveyed, we see their level of anxiety
about academic performance, with 35 participants saying that too much social media
use will affect students' academic performance, accounting for 34.3%. Most students
in particular or young people in particular are quite interested in academic results,
also known as grades.

 In addition, social networks also cause many harms and consequences, the most
dangerous of which is stagnation of human life activities, affecting health, and
causing a negative mood when we receive a lot of information. bad news. This leads
people to choose social networks that can make people susceptible to information on
social networks, not wanting bad news to appear on their forums a lot. This is evident
in 39 choices (accounting for 38.2%).

 In addition, in the 4.0 technology era, not using technological devices competently
does not cause much trouble for people, almost everyone can use modern devices.
That's why only 21 people chose the difficult job when using social networks as not
being proficient in technology devices, accounting for 20.6% of the total. And only
1% chose other difficulties when using social networks.

In addition to the negative effects, and difficulties when using social

- Assuming that students choose to start a business, we think this is a relevant and
directional question in the situation we mentioned. The phrase "Start-up" attracts a
lot of young people. They can choose a product category after learning the needs and
tastes of consumers and unleashing their creativity

- After the survey, the result was that Food and drink had the highest vote rate of 36

chose to agree at a normal level (accounting for 24.5%) and lower with 4 people
disagreeing with this positive opinion.

 The hypothetical scenario is repeated, we want to assume the person filling out the
form has a desire to start a business, and today, social networking is one of the tools
needed more than ever. We ask this question because we want to find out which
social network is currently dominant and receiving the most attention.

- The person who chooses can choose 3 options and in turn, these 3 social networks
account for the highest percentage of votes, which is Facebook (with 93 votes,
accounting for 91.2%), lower than Instagram with (79 votes, accounting for 77.5%)
and finally TikTok with (74 votes, accounting for 72.5%). These 3 social networks
have significantly high votes compared to other options. It can be seen that
Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok all have features such as sales live streams, and
short reels of product reviews. Recently, people are quite fond of short videos edited
to review products, food, etc.

- In addition, Zalo and Twitter were also voted 14 (accounting for 13.7%) and 9

22
(accounting for 8.8%), but it doesn't seem to be very popular because Zalo is usually
only for business messages and reports. On the contrary, Twitter will be more known
to you if you are passionate about Korean idols. There are other opinions with a
negligible number of choices, only 1-2%.

 Every event in life has many facets. This is also considered a concluding question,
we want to determine that after the survey, after the negative and positive impacts
that we clearly show through each question, we want to know which impact will
overwhelm the rest.

- It is clear that although social networks have negative effects such as reducing
concentration at work, negatively affecting user psychology, or affecting work and
study results, most of them There is no denying the influence of social networks in
promoting products to users. It can be used in many ways such as running ads,
reviewing short videos, calling for seeding, or live streaming. Understand the
psychology of the majority of users, find out what time they usually go online, and
implement their propaganda strategy. So we can make the most of the benefits of
social networks.

- That is clearly shown by the statistics, with 89 for more positive impact (87%) and
13 for more negative impact (13%). Currently, social networks still bring smart users
with high benefits such as communication, spreading, updating trends, information...

PRACTICAL MEANINGS AND LIMITATIONS
I. PRACTICAL SIGNIFICANCE:

effectively balanced. Besides, through this survey, students - students need to

 In the current 4.0 era, policymakers need to focus on the personal goals of social

an age limit for better management, avoidance of cyber violence with provocative
language, and reduction of negative effects when using social networks. There are
policies to support visitors to limit disadvantages and difficulties when updating
news online.
II. LIMITATION:

27
- Since the research was conducted during the holidays, only the online survey could
be taken. The survey sample is mainly done online using the Google form tool, so the
response level is not high (102 responses in 24 hours). Therefore, the received data
does not really reflect objectively and accurately.

- The topic is not so new that it did not attract much feedback from the survey,
although we have researched and closely followed the innovation and trends of the
current generation Z. In addition, there is not much experience in project planning,
survey scale creation and data processing, so errors are inevitable. Due to the online
survey, our team has not been able to thoroughly understand the problems, the
causes, and the appropriate solutions.

- Because of different and different lameness, the data still does not really reflect all.
Looking forward to receiving comments to improve and supplement the study better.
The teacher's help is the source of motivation for the group to learn more knowledge.
