Laboratory Exercise # 3
Questions and Hypothesis
Observation:

It has been raining heavily lately since we are in the wet season. While walking around my yard,

I noticed that there is a lot of grass continuously growing. My yard is filled with sandy soil and

only 2 weeks ago, my yard was weeded.

Scientific Questions:

1. Does rain speed up the rate at which grass grows?

2. Does grass grow faster during the wet season than in the dry season?

3. Does grass grow faster in sandy soils than in clayey soils?

4. Does grass need the right kind of weather and soil type to strive at its best?

5. Is there a relationship between soil type and weather that affects the rate at which grass

grows?

Hypothesis:

Weather and soil type affects the rate at which grass grows.

Reasons for choosing this hypothesis:

I believe that grass grows faster under specific conditions relating to the weather and soil type

present in your yard or otherwise.

1. One can compare the results of grass growing in sandy soil to clayey soil over a specified

period of time.

2. One can compare grass growing in wet conditions to dry conditions over a specified

period of time
