RATIONALE PAPER

Topic #:
MOANA WATER REFILLING STATION POINT OF SALE AND INVENTORY SYSTEM
I. General Subject Area: POS AND INVENTORY SYSTEM
II. Specific Topic: MOANA WATER REFILLING STATION
III. Definition of the Topic
a. Importance and Significance (Rationale). What are your reasons for conducting this
study? What motivates you to do this system project?
ANSWER:

The developers observed that the water station is still using a paper-based system,
which is currently not applicable or recommended for a secure type of system. The developers
decided to develop a system that would fulfill the needs of the Moana Water Refilling Station to
make every process more convenient and accurate.

The purpose of the project was to provide a more convenient and accessible system at
the Moana Water Refilling Station, Lokeb Sur Malasiqui, Pangasinan. Through the system, the
assigned employee can save time and effort in monitoring and auditing the sales and products
of the business. The system can secure all the information so that even old records can be
accessed, unlike the traditional monitoring and auditing of sales and products of the business,
which can easily be destroyed by others.

b. Manageability (Scope and Limitations) is the system project within your capability?

ANSWER:

The scope and limitations of the developers' "proposed" system, which is a "Point of
Sales" with inventory, are the following aspects:

The system covered the transactions in the Moana Water Refilling Station, such as basic
information about bottle sizes and the quality of water. The system focused on monitoring the
products and auditing the sales of the businesses in the Moana Water Refilling Station
The system was also responsible for recording the products from the supplier.

The system had its own limitations. The system was designed only for the Moana Water
Refilling Station. Other transactions outside the water station were not covered by the system.
The system cannot be protected from malware and other viruses that cause corruption of data.
Furthermore, the information is restricted to the use of this system and cannot be accessed by
other units or areas of the Moana Water Refilling Station. The Moana Water Refilling Station is
located at Lokeb Sur Malasiqui, Pangasinan.
c. Availability of Resources (Sources of Information)

Where do you intend to get the information

Primary Data: Surveys and Questionnaires, Interviews, Experiments

Secondary Data: Histories, Textbooks, edited works, books and articles

d. Expected output/ Objectives

What do you intend to accomplish

General Objective:

The developers aimed to develop a project that will replace the manual process of monitoring
and auditing the "Point of Sales "(POS) and Inventory System of the said water station. The
system would help the water station speed up their operations and transactions with customers.
It would also enhance the monitoring of sales inventory and products by means of database and
search queries. Moreover, it would reduce paper work, save time and resources.

Specific Objective:

i. To develop a computerized system that is able to record the information.

ii. To computerize the manual task in terms of bottle stock inventory.
iii. To apply different functions to manipulate data, like add, update, delete, save and
cancel, clear.
