Chapter 1: INTRODUCTION

Throughout time, technology has always been the steppingstone of

mankind on making our daily lives easier and more efficient by making devices
that help us in our daily lives. Technology had revolutionized how we live from
our day to day living, from health-care to communication, science and
engineering.
The evolution of technology is accessible, faster and more efficient than
ever before. The internet, email, social media, and instant messaging platforms
had made it easier and less costly to communicate with people from all over the
world, regardless of the distance or time.
In conclusion, technology has transformed the world, making it a better
place for everyone. As we continue to make advancements, it is essential to
acknowledge and appreciate how technology has and will continue to help
mankind.

1. Background of the Study

Recently, people are looking forward to the advantages that technology is

offering, Technology comes from discoveries of man; therefore, it includes the utilization
of both primitive and highly advanced tools and method of works. With the help of
technology, people are now using the foremost important and most highly developed
machine man has ever invented: the computer.

Computer has changed the way people work specially within the field of industry
and commerce. More businesses have used this in finishing up different businesses
transactions. Computer has been greatly valued for its skill to execute task more hastily
than any individual had. These task include solving mathematical calculations, storing
necessary information, and organizing files which will be employed by management and
other departments within the company in making economic decisions.

Stock Inventory System with Point of Sales is a web based system that helps on
checking, listing and managing of the stock inventory and point of sales of the business,
it’s faster and more reliable than doing manually. The system can minimize human errors
in editing and be easily access anytime within the business. Stock Inventory System with
Point of Sales makes the business simpler, more productive and is convenient for the
business and its customers.

1
The existing inventory and sales of A&L Construction Supply consumes a lot of
time and effort in making transactions and retrieving records since it is done manually.
Mean while, the proposed Stock Inventory System with Point of Sales is more efficient,
accurate, convenient, secure and reliable than the manual system. The information or
records about the inventory and sales of the products can be easily monitored and
accessed. It can maximize not only the user’s productivity but also the company’s
business capabilities. Therefore, Stock Inventory System with Point of Sales can improve
the transaction process of a business and it can resolve errors that are occurring on the
existing system.

Through the system, the employees and owner of A&L CONSTRUCTION

SUPPLY will easily compute the sales and monitor the number of products used every
day in the conduct of the business. The system will give a safer storage of reports and
accurate information.

Through the system, the time used in computing the sales will be lessen and also
will enable employees and owners to improve efficiency and meet their business goals.
Unlike in a simple work sheet in MS Excel, the proposed system will be more organized
and also the users don’t need to find the tools and formula of all the things related to sales
and inventory that he will be needing are in the system, because with the Point of Sales
and Stock Inventory System in their hands, they are just one click away to do the tasks.

The objective of the study is to develop a Stock Inventory with Point of

Sales for A&L Construction Supply to help in making their transactions easy to manage
and organize their files regarding in inventory and billing.

1.2. Statement of the Problem

As the proponents distinguished the different problems that took on A&L

Construction Supply, the proponents aim to find methods to implement the appropriate
solutions for them. The current manual process of A&L Construction Supply will be
improved with the implementation of Stock Inventory System with Point of Sales.

1.2.1. General Objective

The proponents aim to provide Point of Sales and Stock Inventory System to
improve their manual process and also to become more progressive and productive to fit
the costumer’s needs and standards.

1.2.2. Specific Objectives

 To create a system that will integrate Point of Sales and module for the availability of
products.

 To reduce the time and cost of controlling and managing the sales and inventory.

 To generate daily and monthly reports such as points of sales, stock inventory, statistical
and back-order reports.

 To provide a user-friendly interface to help the user easily adapt and be comfortable of
using the system, and to help them easily understand how the system works with its
simple functions such “add”, “delete” and “update”.

1.3. Significance of the Study

The system will be significant to the following:

 Owner - This will help the owner in checking the sales computation and the
inventory of the whole business. Through the system, there will be an easy flow
3
of financial reports and also a stress-free calculation of the sales. Moreover, it will
also help the owner and the people operating in the business to have more time
working because the system will not be requiring a time to time checking.

 Business – This help in finding out if the use of the sales and inventory
management system will enhance their marketing strategies and their manual
procedures.

 Cashier - Through the help of the proposed system, the cashier will not be using
manual calculations anymore and this system will help to avoid human error.

 Customer – They will not experience insufficient service and slow transaction
process. Customers will not experience a longtime waiting calculation for the
price of the items purchased.

 The Developers / Researchers - This study will give the researchers the
experience and knowledge they need, to further develop their skills and adeptness
to this kind of field which will help them in the near future.

 Future Researchers – This study can provide more information about the things
that the future researchers want to explore in the future. This will serve as a
reference material and a guide for them who wish to make the same system or any
study related to this.

1.4. Scope and Limitations

Scope:

 Monitoring and Computation of Points of Sales and Stock Inventory – The

system will be responsible to the sales computation, upon entering all the products
being purchased in every transaction, it will automatically add and lessen the
product being used.
 Security - Cashier and Manager will be able to access the system using their own
account.
 Generate Reports - The system will generate reports and the admin can monitor
the company sales for time to time.

4
 Back Up – The system is capable of database backup and restore, the system can
export the database through saving SQL file and can also restore database due to
data loss event.
 Sales Reports – The system is able to provide daily and monthly sales reports.
 Prices of Items – The system includes the ability to set and update item prices
and stock prices.
 The study and research were done within the boundary of Maharlika highway,
Brgy. Sabang Tabok Lavezares Northern Samar, on the month of March 2023.

The Limitations:

 Online Ordering – A&L Construction Supply mainly focuses on face-to-face

business operation and not online. The Point of Sales and Stock Inventory System
does not deal with any online connection used for transaction.
 Online Payment – The Point of Sales and Stock Inventory System does not cover
any online payment transactions.
 Exclusive to the Owner and Authorized Personnel Only – The information
or data that the system possess is not available for the customer or any
unauthorized person to access.
 Payroll Operations – The payroll operation is simply not covered by the Point of
Sales and Stock Inventory System, for it is only for sales and inventory of items
only.
