 “On pain” from the Prophet (knopf, 1923)

 According to Nadine Ajaka l, Gibran's poem offers little solace or advice on how to overcome the
emotion. Instead, we are encouraged to see our pain as a wondrous and remarkable force.
 The prose-poetry “On Pain” of Gibran enlightens everyone who was blinded by anger and
sadness, and the poem “On Pain” wants to tell us that let your heart feel what it felts and never
ever deny it. Because it’s normal, never invalidate your feelings just because you feel that your
emotions are not valid

II.

 According to Jonathan Ernst / Reuters “On Pain" is one of Gibran's shortest and least resolved
poems. It begins with a powerful and clarifying description: "Your pain is the breaking of the
shell that encloses your understanding." You must experience pain, just as the stone of the fruit
must break in order for its heart to stand in the sun.
 The prophet Almustafa tried to explain that Humans are inherently sensitive to pain. This is
understandable, as pain is frequently an indicator of a condition that is detrimental to thriving or
even survival.

III.

 "On Pain" line: "pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your
understanding." Whenever I'm on the verge of crying, in pain, or
devastated, I usually freak out and never let anyone block my feelings.
I invalidate my feelings often just because I think my problem isn't that
big compared to others, and pain led me to making decisions that made
me suffer more, but because of realization, I came to the conclusion
that, being on pain is normal for a human being. Every emotion is
valid. Let yourself feel what it felts, don’t restrain yourself from pain
and agony because at the end of the day, that pain will teach you a
lesson that can be useful for your future.

IV.

 I chose this topic because I've been devastated since the pandemic began, and depression and
anxiety have set in. I destroyed myself solely because of my own thoughts, and as a result,
suicidal ideology never left my mind. I'm always convinced that I'm not worth it, that I'm not
good enough. I was hopeless because I was always in pain.

 And I've also met a lot of people who have gone through the same thing, so I realized that being
in pain is normal, that being in pain isn't a bad thing, because as the prophet said, "And you
would accept the seasons of your heart, even as you have always accepted the seasons that
pass over your fields." Understand yourself and let yourself feel whatever emotions you felt
because, at the end of the day, that pain will teach us a lesson, a lesson that can be a blessing.
