• Students will answer questions based on stimulus texts (written text, video, images)

• Responses must adhere to the word count provided and be well structured with full sentences,
whilst utilising a varied and sophisticated use of language.

• Students must plan their responses before writing and proofread their work carefully.
Preparation:
• Reacquaint yourself with the specific MYP English Language and Literature Objectives or Criteria
(see onenote)

• Practice reading a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts, attempting to grasp meaning and
understanding of the true underlying messages.

 Revise the Command Terms and what they ask from you.

 Revise the ACTSS structure of analysis in preparation for the Compare and Contrast question.

 Review/identify literary, figurative and persuasive devices, as well as those used for analysis of
film, adverts and visual texts.

 Practice embedding quotations into your sentences.

 Practice timed writing of 350 word creative pieces (both non-fiction and fiction).

 All students will practice a series of responses in class, which will mirror the examination layout
and assessed skills. This will enable students to become familiar with the exam. structure,
practice time-management and refine their analytical technique.
