As our world advances, the term ‘’hierarchy’’ has been brought into this world.

Thousands of
years ago, in some countries like Egypt, the word ‘’hierarchy’ ’is used to their citizens in order to
classify them. Today, as our world develops each and throughout the years, hierarchy has been
given a lot of meanings. It gives us a lot of advantages and disadvantages that affects our
society. Hierarchy benefits people by having authorized people to manage, give orders and laws
to the citizens of the country for them to be organized and keep the unity within them by
following these set of rules or laws. On the other hand, hierarchy creates a disadvantage where
it gives endless power within the people and it may cause the society to fall. This hierarchical
structure brought a connection and it contributed to the development of both partial and
global connections. This is how we share and trade goods with different provinces, cities and
even countries.

These global and local hierarchies are the different groups of individuals around the world that
is based on their income, education, wealth, occupation, social network and other factors that
may divide them. These hierarchies may impact an individuals’ family life, education, health,
political participation, opinions, views, beliefs, religious affiliation and even their experience
with the justice system and laws of the country. Development is connected with the
entrenchment of global and local hierarchies since they need to improve the quality of their life
and to have their own opportunities, resources and privileges.

Development and Globalization has a contradicting relationship because for some people, they
believe that globalization is an advantage where it can reduce the poverty, make a contribution
for the other parts of development and life expectancy but for some, globalization has negative
impacts and it is seen as the cause of the growing unemployment, poverty, inequality and also
environmental destruction. It also considers the globalization’s important aspects that create
impacts on development.

Since Philippines is known as an Asian nation that has been colonized by different countries
such as the Spain and America, it has been exposed to different cultures, traditions and etc. As
a Filipino of the contemporary world, I think the most viable way to minimize, if not eradicate
such structures that seem to pose large problems surrounding development is to know how to
export products successfully when some countries don’t have infrastructures to engage in the
international trade and also apply the set of universal and transformative goals and targets.

In the year of 2016, there was a high-level political summit that was held in order to make a
report about the global sustainable development (HLPF) that creates a 2030 agenda for
universal and indivisible sustainable development for all. Since globalization is the trend for the
economies increasing integration not just in terms of services and goods, but also in the
information, ideas and technology, it can create immense benefits for developing countries.

This implemented agenda will help minimize those large problems surrounding development
because these are transformative and bold steps that the world needed in order to shift onto a
resilient and sustainable path for a very long term. It also balances and focuses on the three
dimensions of the sustainable development which are the social, economic and environmental.
It is determined to ensure that all human beings are free from anything and can enjoy a healthy
environment through these goals and targets in the next fifteen years. It is also committed to
prioritize the progress of those countries that are not developed or the furthest behind.

It doesn’t only minimize one problem that surrounds our development but it will balance and
preserve the quality of the environment, restore, develop, maintain and prevent the exhaustion
of our natural sources, end the hunger and poverty in order to have an equality and experience
a healthy environment and to protect the planet we live in by taking these urgent actions for
the present and future generations. It will also create and foster more just and peaceful
societies so we can all live in harmony because there is no peace without these sustainable
development goals and there are no sustainable development goals without resulting in peace.
