On Chancellor Sanchez Bid For A 3rd Term (September 19,

2020)

This is a statement of the Philosophical organizations of UPLB, The

Philosophical Society of UPLB and Sophia Circle to express disdain and
vehemently condemns Dr. Fernando Sanchez Jr. who expressed his intent
to serve as chancellor for the third time despite his administration’s
inefficiency, apathy and overall poor performance. We demand an
administration that can effectively respond to the concerns of the

6
students, can show compassion towards the employees, and
administration that upholds principles that prioritize the well-being of its
constituents, which the Sanchez administration lacks. We deserve a
chancellor that is a Pro student and pro people, consultative,
YEARS OF compassionate, chancellor that protects Academic Freedom and promotes
Quality Education, someone with a sense of personal humility,
ENLIGHTENMENT appreciates the role of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences in the
university, appreciates the role of athletics and extra-curricular activities
EXCELLENCE in student-engagement and most importantly, someone who has shown
great character in the past, has moral and personal values. This is a call
SOLIDARITY for an efficient UPLB administration that shows concern and reaches out
to its constituents.

The Horrors of Martial Law and The Present

Administration's Resemblance of the Marcos Regime
(September 21, 2020)

This is the statement to remind our nation one of the darkest days in the
Philippine history, the horrors of Martial Law, and how it resemble the
current administration led by President Duterte. Numerous human rights
violations which include extrajudicial killings, mass arrests, sexual
harassment crimes, disappearances, and acts of torture became rampant as
law enforcement have been entirely neglected. This is also to honor and
give tribute to the real heroes who have fought and struggled in order to
achieve justice and freedom for the Filipino people.
