II. AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY
His blindness prevented him to write. He dictated his poems, songs and translations, while
someone else wrote. Ilocano epic Biag ni Lam-ang is attributed to Bukaneg by some authors and
historians. It is also possible that the works of Bukaneg was sung for centuries by the Ilocano and

intended for use in the conversion of the local population. In 1621 the Ilocano translation of

VIII. INTERPRITITION
Hundreds of years prior, there was an extraordinary champion who was well referred to in Ilocos
as a the legend Igorots. At the point when Lam-ang was conceived, he had the most uncommon
capacity to talk quickly upon entering the world. He quickly asked where his dad was, and, after
being educated that his dad was killed by Igorots, Lam-ang promised retribution: A quarrel was
conceived.
Lam-ang grew up right away, and went up into the mountains to get his revenge. Alone, he
fended off many Igorot champions, overcoming them all. He cut off the ears of the fighters, as
prizes, and got back to Ilocos. He then met and was dazzled by a delightful lady named Ines, and
he promptly became hopelessly enamored. He swore her the entirety of his gold, land, and
domesticated animals.
Normally, as the most lovely lady in the region, Ines had numerous admirers, however all
discreetly gave method for lamming ang, since they realize that they couldn't rival him for her
kind gestures. All with the exception of a monster of a man, named Sumarang, who wouldn't
yield. In this way, Lam-ang and Sumarang battled, and Lam-ang won, effectively crushing
Sumarang.
Lam-ang and Ines were hitched with the biggest wedding feast that at any point been found in
the territory. To get the association's approval, Lam-ang was educated that he should jump down
to the actual profundities of the ocean and recover a pearl from an otherworldly clam, generally
the marriage would have misfortune. (Different variants say that Lam-ang went to look for an
intriguing fish called rarang.) So Lam-ang dove into the ocean and, on his way down, was eaten
by a fearsome fish called the Berkaken.
Devastated, Ines went into grieving, as did the greater part of the town, as Lam-ang was their
legend. The following day, Lam-ang's chicken, who had mysterious abilities (Lam-ang likewise
possessed an enchanted canine and feline), addressed Ines, and advised her to have Lam-ang's
bones fished out of the ocean. Ines did as she was told, presenting to Lam-ang's bones before the
chicken, who then blew on them.
