that all the main junctions must have

roundabouts. He stated that there would

be no traffic lights at the junctions to

make sure that the traffic flows freely.

Although due to the burgeoning increase in the population, which further led to the increase in number of motor vehicles in the city, traffic

PROBLEMS :
Matka Chowk is a major junction through which

majorly everyone in the passes by atleast once a

day. The junction experiences massive traffic jams

during morning time between 9am and 10 am and

evening time between 5 pm and 6pm.

The Chowk is about 2.4km from PGI and 1.2km from

Sector 16 Hospital. Due to extensive traffic at various

times of the day it becomes difficult for

2.4
ambulances (and distressed people visiting the

km
hospital) to easily reach the hospital.
1.2

Any sudden closure of the road from Matka Chowk

km

till PGI causes major inconvenience to the residents.

Finding alternate routes to reach one's destination

also proves to be very time consuming.

of accidents but aren't that effective here.

The non functional traffic lights at the matka chowk on a buy weekday make the

junction accident prone.
