GEOGRAPHICAL & CLIMATIC DATA OF HUBLI

Introduction

• Coordinates : 15° 21′ 0.78″ N, 75° 8′ 15.45″ E

• Elevation: 640M above sea level

• Area: 404 km²

• Hubli, officially known as Hubballi, is a City in


the Indian state of Karnataka.

• The name Hubballi comes from


Kannada Hoovina Balli which means "Flowering creeper" in Kannada. Hubli is the
anglicised version of Hubballi.

• The twin cities Hubli–Dharwad form the second largest city in the state by size and
population and the largest city in North Karnataka.

• Hubli is located in Dharwad district of Karnataka and is the taluk headquarters of


Hubli City and Hubli Rural. Although it hosts the HDMC office, the district
headquarters is located in Dharwad.

• In 2016, Hubli-Dharwad was selected for solar city / green city master plans.

• In 2017, government of India included Hubli-Dharwad city for a smart city project, a


flagship scheme for overall development of infrastructure in the twin-cities.

Climate

Hubli-Dharwad has a TROPICAL WET AND DRY CLIMATE.

 Temperature

• Summers are hot and dry, lasting from late


February to early June.

• Temperatures are fairly moderate from late


October to early February, with virtually no
rainfall.

• The temperatures are highest on average in April,


at around 28.0 °C | 82.5 °F.

• In August, the average temperature is 22.7 °C | 72.9 °F. It is the lowest average
temperature of the whole year.

 Sunshine

• In Hubballi, the month with the most daily hours


of sunshine is March with an average of 10.38
hours of sunshine. In total there are 321.89 hours
of sunshine throughout March.
• The month with the fewest daily hours of sunshine in Hubballi is January with an

January.

moderate temperatures and a large amount of
precipitation.

Transportation

• Hubli Airport is a domestic airport serving the twin cities of Hubli-Dharwad and


North Karnataka in the state of Karnataka, India. It is situated on Gokul Road, 8
kilometers from city centre and 20 kilometers (12 mi) from Dharwad. Hubli airport
connects to 10 destinations throughout the country.

• The city currently has four stations and one Junction. The Hubli Junction railway
station is the main railway station in the city with a built-up area of 161,460 sq. ft.
Hubli is the headquarters of the South Western Railway zone. It was carved out as a
zone from the current South-Central Railway. It is the centre for the Hubli Division. 

• Hubballi-Dharwad Bus Rapid Transit System (also known as HDBRTS) is a bus


rapid transit system built to serve the twin
cities of Hubli and Dharwad, located in the
North-Western part of Karnataka state in India.

• Hubli lies on the "Golden Quadrilateral". Asian


Highway 47 passes through Hubli. It lies on
National Highway 63 (Ankola–Gooty) and
National Highway 218 (Hubli–Humnabad),
which connect Hubli with major cities in the
region. NWKRTC (North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation) is a state-
run corporation headquartered at Hubli. A semi ring road connecting NH4 (Pune–
Bangalore), NH67 (Ankola–Gooty) and NH218 (Hubli–Humnabad) is already under
construction.

Economy

• Hubli is one of the commercial hubs of Karnataka. It has a wide cluster of industries
and has more than a lakh small and medium industries.

• The Government of India has set up a Software Technology Park of India on Pune–


Bangalore Road and Aryabhata Tech Park in Navanagar region of Hubli.

• The city is situated on the dividing line between Malnad and the Deccan plateau.
Malnad is well known for its forests and forest-based industries and the other three
sides are known for their agricultural products including cotton, groundnut, and
oilseeds, as well as manganese ore and granite.

• Hubli-Dharwad have a widespread of Black cotton soil.

• Approach road on the South

• Site has mild vegetation and is an open land.

• It has a kutcha road so, a 24.0m wide road is


proposed for the main entry.

• The approach road leads to Hubli-Dharwad highway, that serves for easy
transportation.

• The site has 7.0m slope from the Northern to Southern end.

• The site is situated on North-Eastern side of Amargol.

• Site is located in the Commercial zone according to the land use map.

Justification for site selection:

• This site is selected because it is situated near the Hubli-Dharwad highway, so it will
be easy for the guests to access to and from the twin cities and others.

• The site is selected in Hubli (commercial zone) by considering the overall


developing potential in the institutional, technological, industrial etc., zones. Hence
it will attract visitors from all the fields.

• Hubli airport also serves as an advantage as it is connected to 10 destinations


throughout the country.

Site Details:

• The site proposed for Convention and Exhibition Centre covers an area of 18.0 acres
(73520.0 Sq.M) with 12% front setback and 8% setback on the other sides.
