Rice field

The Rice Field plantation is used for growing and producing rice (Oryza sativa). The
rice field is located at the east side of the campus road located specifically in front of the GE
Building. It is basically a lowland flat area with a natural irrigation system, and a wide,
shallow canal-type drainage system. The rice field is trapezoidal in form with dimensions of
8m × 10m × 11m approximately, and an estimated area of 100 square meters. Since it is a
rice field, only Rice (Oryza sativa) is planted, but significantly, we have been told that the
field was formerly a Giant Swamp Taro (Cyrtosperma merkusii) (Galyang) plantation, but
then it was converted into a rice field due to the field’s potential of producing rice.

In the process of planting, the farmers make use of a seedling referred to as “fillers”.
The seedling is majestic that one seedling yields a plant that produces several shoots. It
blooms several flowers—although not uniformly as some may have different variety.
Furthermore, the rice field yields 20 to 25 rice plants per row and 25 to 30 rice plants per
column, with it growing approximately 45.72 centimeters in height.
