largest in Asia after China (6.0 Million tons/Mt) and Japan (2.2 Mt) producing around 1.7 million tons
(Mt) of ewaste in 2014. The e-waste is problem because most of the people are using electronic
gadgets but they do not have proper knowledge of its management and disposal. It is felt that
people are unaware of the harmful effect of e-waste accumulation.

This topic is important to conduct study because healthy environment is a part of our life. The
problem can be solved only by creating awareness in people about e-waste and management of
electronics. The study includes samples from Delhi NCR. The samples will include college students
from Delhi University. 10 colleges will be selected for the study & the sample will contain around 100
students. (10 students from each college).

electronic equipments.

Evaluation of Mid-Day Meal Program in Primary Schools of Rajpura Block of Sambhal District in
Uttar Pradesh.

Mid-day meal (MDM) is a freshly-cooked lunch served to children in government and government-
aided schools in India. Mid-Day Meal Program aims to

 increase school enrolment

 increase school attendance

On August 15, 1995, National Programme of Nutritional Support to Primary Education (NP-NSPE)
was launched as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme and in the year 2001, the Supreme Court of India
ordered all the state governments and union territories to implement MDM Scheme and provide
cooked meals to school children from Government and Government-aided schools.

With this support, Akshaya Patra began operating its Mid-Day Meal Programme in 2000 and has
inculcated a set of rules & guidelines related to child health and growth, the quantity of calories
required for children. With an effective PPP model, they have been able to serve mid-day meals for
18 years.
The objectives of this topic are -

 To know the knowledge & satisfaction level of children (students), & teachers regarding the
program.
 To assess the Proper implementation of Mid-Day Meal Program in Sambhal district, Uttar
Pradesh.
 To assess the performance of the program in last 2 years

As the study is going to be held in Sambhal District, Uttar Pradesh, so 5 Govt Primary Schools from
Rajpura Block are to be selected for the study, selected through random sampling method, giving
equal representation to each.

For the study, both primary & secondary data collection methods are to be considered. The primary
data can be collected through a questionnaire designed exclusively for the study. Secondary data can
be collected from Research papers, Journals, Magazines and Websites. The sample selected could be
100 school Children (20 each from 5 schools) entitled to avail mid-day meals, randomly from V-VIII
class of each school and 25 teachers (5 teachers selected randomly from each school). Personal
observation can be used to gather first hand evidence from the major stakeholders about the
implementation of the MDMP as per MDMP guidelines.

Assessment of Menstrual hygiene in schools of Sambhal District, Uttar Pradesh

The issue of menstrual hygiene is inadequately acknowledged in our nation. The use of sanitary pads
and washing the genital area are essential practices for good menstrual hygiene. Poor menstrual
hygiene may lead to itching or rashes, bad odour, and sometimes, major complications such as pelvic
inflammatory disease and toxic shock syndrome. This issue still lacks educational support from
health workers, pragmatic guidelines to operationalize MHM in schools, and adequate monetary
resources to implement the needed actions. Fear, shame, ongoing social taboos, ignorant
unsupportive teachers, lack of water, sanitation, disposal facilities, and privacy, are some of the
barriers in building an enabling environment for safe and hygienic menstrual practices within the
school premises.

Therefore, the Objectives of this study are –

 to assess the knowledge level and practice of menstrual hygiene among rural school girls in
sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh.
 To assess the role of teachers in giving awareness about menstrual hygiene in schools.

This study is conducted in Rajpura Block of sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh. 10 Govt Schools are
selected randomly from the block. The respondents are rural girls aged 12-19 from the Schools. The
Sample will consist around 120 rural girls. (12 girls from each school).

Responses are collected through Questionnaire from the respondents for the data collection.

This study can be concluded to mandate health education in govt schools, on menstruation and its
hygienic management; community education on the scientific aspects of menstruation; and policy
implementation towards the construction of girl friendly toilets in houses, schools and public places
so that the nation becomes healthy and productive with empowered women.

Assessment of Plastic Waste Management (through sustainable practices) in Restaurants – Study

in Delhi NCR.

The restaurant industry in India is growing at a faster rate with the diverse culinary habits, wide
range of cuisines and the diverse cooking techniques being some of the main factors behind its
growth. High standard of living and the change in the lifestyle of the people stimulate more and
more consumers for various restaurants.

A major issue concerning in this regard is the disposal of the waste generated from the restaurant
facilities. The wastes generated are very high in pollutant levels and cannot be discharged directly
into municipal dumping sites or rivers.

Simple procedures such as assessing and monitoring the types and amounts of garbage thrown away
each day can lead to significant savings for the restaurant, as well as monitoring and resizing
dumpsters and roll-offs. The first step in reducing the amount of waste a restaurant produces is to
conduct a waste audit. Waste audits allow to physically seeing what waste is being produced.

In New Delhi, many restaurants have started adopting sustainable practices on daily basis. They
encourage the use of metallic straws, and their packaging, introduced a zero-waste menu & have
adopted many other sustainable practices. The objectives of the study are -

 To Analyse the knowledge level of plastic waste management awareness among

stakeholders in restaurants in Delhi
 To assess the Methods used for plastic waste collection in restaurants.
 To evaluate plastic waste rules & guidelines by government to be followed by restaurants.

As the study is going to be held in New Delhi, the sample selected for the study could be restaurants
running in Delhi for conducting survey. Random sampling method is to be used. For the study, both
the primary and secondary data collection methods can be considered. The primary data can be
collected through a questionnaire designed exclusively for the study. The sample taken for the study
includes restaurant workers & consumers coming in restaurants.
