 Clean

1. For cell
2. For pedestal
3. For top cap
 Boil the porous stone for 15 min
 Keep filter paper ready
 Apply silicon gel at base of chamber
 Place the membrane inside sample tube
 Sample preparation
1. Open the back pressure knob and release air voids at base of pedestal
2. Place saturated porous stone and filter paper
3. Fix membranes with O rings
4. Fix split soil mould
5. Fix the membrane at top
6. Fill the soil in layers
7. Level and place porous stone filter paper
8. Place top cap and fix O rings
9. Apply vacuum and detach split mould
 Place cell chamber without disturbing sample
 Lock load cell and top cap
 Open top and bottom knobs connected to cell chamber (first from left in board)
 Open the knob in chamber for filling cell water (keep the top screw opened)
 Once water is filled, close top knob (Cell) in board
 Remove the load cell lock
 Connect the LVDT connection (Connect wire from load frame and cell chamber)
 Open the soft ware
1. Create a new test and name it
2. In top Tab, select - [ Instruments– View –Triaxial – Dynamic system –
Dynamic triaxial – click Blue arrow at Top RHS – to reset the values click –
Home Tab
3. Connect load cell and cell chamber (check for 3 level of locking)
4. Using Step 2, check Enable checkbox
5. Fill details in Step 1,2 and 3 (specimen detail, cell pressure and failure
conditions)
6. Right click the shear and select Run
7. From ‘Shear’tab the running results can be viewed
8. After test save the details and export the graphs
9. Click Stop to finish the experiment
10. Using step 2 , uncheck the Enable check box
11. Reduce the cell pressure by clicking [Instruments– View –Pressure controller
–cell] reduce the cell pressure step by step to zero]
 Dismantling
1. Open top knob of cell pressure in board – open the vacuum (so the
water in cell chamber goes to water tank)- once cell chamber emptied,
close the vacuum and close the knob (cell water) in cell chamber
2. Disconnect the LVDT
 Clean the equipment
