CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Company name: Bummy’s Catering and Bilao Services.

Background of the Study

Bummy’s Catering and Bilao Services continuous to operate despite all


the challenges of the ongoing pandemic.

Although people tend to prepare and cook foods at home during the pandemic,
consumers still crave a variety of dishes that are normally found in their favorite
restaurants. While some have succeeded in preparing and copying the recipes for their
desired meals, many have failed and given up on the time-consuming process of
cooking. Food deliveries are becoming increasingly popular as people choose to stay at
home and reduce social interactions. They are the best, if not the only, option for getting
the variety of foods that they crave. Some restaurants that did not previously provide
food delivery have begun to investigate this business opportunity. The rising demand for
food delivery has resulted in higher prices in some areas, but it has also contributed to
an increase in employment, as some businesses have begun to hire new drivers and
delivery personnel.

Nowadays, the majority of caterers by Bummy’s Catering and Bilao Company


use the System of manual ordering system necessitates the participation of a person. A
customer orders. This system relies on a large number of people to handle customer
reservations, inquiries, ordering food, placing orders and payment methods. When there
are a lot of customers at the same time, this traditional method is a waste of time and
energy. Furthermore, it could be the result of a misunderstanding between the customer
and the person taking the order. However, if too many employees are needed, it may be
a waste of resources during non-peak hours. It will also add extra work to the cashier's
plate to keep a record of every transaction. Some early efforts have been made. This
manual ordering process has been replaced. However, this system merely replaces the
use of paper and pen by the employees in order to take an order. Customers are from
Internet advertising in social media platform thru Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and etc.
Current manual process:

1. Orders are from Social Media Platform through Blogs and Advertisement.
2. Assigned admin will take orders through this social media platform.
3. Admin will set a reservation from the customer and set the order date
4. Delivery personnel will deliver the product to the customer
5. Customer will pay COD
