Paper Dove Craft Activity

You will need:

• Our template pack printed onto white card
• Some colourful felt tips
• A white piece of paper
• Scissors
• (Optional) Holepunch and string

1) First, cut around the dove template provided. You will

also need to ask an adult to cut along the slit marked
on the dove’s back. Cut out the olive branch template.

2) You can choose to add colour to the olive

branch template.

3) Now, get your A4 piece of white paper.

4) Bring the two shortest sides together to fold the paper

in half lengthways.

5) Next, unfold the paper.

6) Then, take one of the shortest sides of the paper and

bring it to the centre fold line you just created.

7) Repeat on the other side, bringing the shortest side of the

paper to the centre fold line.

8) Repeat step 6 and 7.

9) Then repeat this folding action once more.

10) Unfold the piece of paper. You can see we have made
many fold lines in the paper. Each of the rows we have
created are equal in length. We are going to use them as
guiding fold lines for our concertina fold, so we know
each of our concertina folds are equal in width.

11)We are going to use a concertina fold. Start at the
bottom shortest side of your paper. Fold the first strip over
and away from you.

12) Then, turn the whole piece of paper over, keeping that
first strip in place.

13) Then, repeat the folding action. Fold the next bottom
strip over and away from you. Use the guiding fold lines
you made earlier to ensure your strips are equal in
width.

14) Repeat this concertina fold up the whole length of

your piece of paper.

15) Next, fold your concertina in half. These are your dove’s
wings.

16) Thread the concertina paper through the slit in the

dove template. Place the halfway fold of the wings where
the paper goes through the dove template.

17) You can pull apart the concertina folds so your dove
can spread their wings.

18) Next, you can choose to add decorations to your

dove. Draw an eye and a beak, and glue the olive
branch to the dove’s beak. If you are going to hang your
dove crafts on string, make sure to decorate both sides
of the dove and olive branch.

19) Use a holepunch to create two holes, one in front of the

wings and one behind, both on the dove’s back.

20) Then thread and knot some string through each of

the holes. Adjust and manipulate the paper wings until
the dove balances when hanging from the string.
