CURRICULUM ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM (CEP)

CEP is a modified reinforcement/make-up class, it is the bridging of knowledge and

skills in all subjects including skills development in laboratory classes. CEP will
provide concrete reinforcement to the educational and personal development of the students
through integrative delivery of the curriculum based on the standards of the CMO and within
the framework of the course learning outcomes of the program and institutional leaning
outcomes of SDCA.

The purpose of CEP is to strengthen the academic education of a Dominican student, in

particular to:

1. Deliver reinforcement of courses in Professional and General Education subjects.

2. Apply a rigorous set of teaching and learning environment that will strengthen the
course learning outcomes.
3. Reinforce curriculum to emphasize the institutional learning objectives and the core
values of SDCA (local, global, interdisciplinary, intercultural and experiential).
4. Evaluate the end-term learning outcomes in a form of examination/and or student
portfolio.

Designing a CEP-Learning Module

CEP-Learning Module is an organized collection of key contents presented together. It

supports a course goal, a course objective, and the over-all theme/concept of the subject.

The instructor must set a structured path through the content item using a framework or a
storyboard or a set of dependencies.

For example:
A Learning Module can present the concept of magnets’ fields before describing how speakers and
microphones work. Understanding the first concept is dependent on understanding the second
concept. Alternatively, instructors can allow students to explore the content in a Learning Module at
their own pace.

The value of creating CEP-Learning Modules lies in the ability to integrate related content and
activities, providing a rich, learning experience for students. Learning Modules can be
modified by adding URLs (external links) and useful references.

The SDCA CEP-Learning Module will have two parts:

Part I: Self Instructional Materials (SIMs)
Part II: Review Questions and Recommended Follow-up

Basic Elements of CEP-Learning Modules

I. Introduction
II. Objectives
III. Recommended Preparations
IV. Content
V. Content Summary
VI. Review Questions
VII. Post-Test, Questions and Answers
VIII. Recommended Follow-up
IX. Rubric for Grading
