Paintings from the

17th century
Portrait
I chose this topic because it is interesting
about the art culture.
Historically, portrait paintings have primarily
memorialized the rich and powerful. Over time,
however, it became more common for
middle-class patrons to commission portraits of
their families and colleagues.
Landscapes
The Windmill of Wijk bij Duurstede (c. 1670) is an oil on canvas
painting by the Dutch painter Jacob van Ruisdael. It is an example of
Dutch Golden Age painting and is now in the collection of the
Amsterdam Museum, on loan to the Rijksmuseum.
The painting shows Wijk bij Duurstede, a riverside town about 20
kilometers from Utrecht, with a dominating cylindrical windmill. We
can see a lot of details.
I chose this painting
because the windmill
is a Dutch symbol and
I like the the balance
between water and
land.
