When did RA 9994 become effective?

 RA 9994 became effective on April 22, 2010. It was published on March 28, 2010 in the Philippine Daily Inquirer and April
7, 2010 in Business Mirror.
 All Filipino residents who are 60 years old and above are entitled to the benefits and privileges granted RA 9994. It may
cover elderly “dual citizens” who can prove Filipino citizenship and at least 6 months residency in the Philippines

What other government financial assistance are now available to senior citizens?

There are two (2) new provisions under RA 9994 that will directly benefit senior citizens:

1. a) Monthly Social Pension of P500 to be given to indigent senior citizens; and


2. b) Death Benefit Assistance of P2,000 to be given to the nearest surviving relative who cared for the deceased senior
citizen until his/her death.

entitled to an additional deduction from their gross income equivalent sa 15% of the total amount paid as
salaries and wages to senior citizens which is sunjet to the provision of sction 34 of the national internal
revenue code.

programs nga makaaccess sa formal kag non formal education. A scholarship programme for senior
citizens has also been established by the Philippine government and is known as the senior citizens
scholarship program. Ang ila goal is to provide assistance to senior citizens so that they continue their
education. In addition to make chances available to them so that they ca expand their professional
expertise and knowledge base.
(c) Ang doh, in coordination sa LGU, NGos, POs for senior citizen, shall institute or maghimo sa national
health program og mo provide sa integratd health service for senior citizens
(d) Atleast 50% discount on electric, water and telephone consumption of senior citizens centers and
residential or group homes. When purchasing direct-dial phones, electric power service connections, and
water supply services from the government agencies such as philpower co. the national power
corporation (napocor), meralco, and maynild water services incorporated, all senior citizens are eligible to
receives 50% discounts. 5% discount on electric consumption not exceeding 100 kwhrs and water
consumption not exceeding 30 cubic meters for households with senior citizens residing therein and
under whose name the separate meters are registered.
(e) The increasing aging population in the country prompted the NHMFC to establish a new scheme that will
help support the financial needs of the underserved Filipino senior citizens. Considering this class of
populace and the several housing finance programs that do not explicitly cater to the elderly’s needs for
additional fund, NHMFC officially launched in 2016 its version of the Reverse Mortgage Program dubbed
as “Magandang Buhay sa BaHay (MaBuHay) Program” (HLRPP 3-MaBuHay). This is a new product in the
Philippine capital market designed to help provide additional funds for Filipino senior citizens’ snowballing
cost of living. The NHMFC’s MaBuHay Program is a type of mortgage wherein a homeowner senior citizen
can borrow money against the value of his or her home, receiving funds in the form of a fixed monthly
payment, a line of credit or both. No monthly payment of the mortgage is required until the borrower
dies, moves away permanently or sells the home. It allows senior citizens to convert a portion of their
home equity into cash to pay for their medical and health care expenses, cost of travels or vacations,
financial obligations or other existing loans. It can also provide additional capital for their planned or
existing business, and other ventures.
The MaBuHay Program, as a social welfare instrument for older persons who play a vital support to the
development of the capital market, is also NHMFC’s way of supporting Republic Act No. 9994 or the
“Expanded Senior Citizens’ Act of 2010.”
(f) Senior citizens are eligible for reduced fare pricing on all public transportation options, including buses,
jeepneys, and taxis. In addition if you take a taxi in metro manila, you can get a discount of up to 50%
while in other major cities around the country you can get a discount of up to 30%.

was officially registered at the Securities and Exchange Commission as a non-stock non-profit organization
on October 29, 2004. Ang ila nga incentive nga madawat is first, the realty tax holiday fo the first 5 years
starting from the first year of operations. Diba oct 29, 2004 sila nag start so for the 1 st 5 years sa ila
operation naka avail sila sa realty tax holiday. A realty tax holiday is a government incentive program that
offers a temporary tax reduction or elimination to consumers or businesses.
(h) (1) when you say indigent senior citizen sila yung mga may sakit or may disability walang mga
permamenteng source of income, compensation or financial assistance. Monthly Social Pension of P500
to be given to indigent senior citizens kag aother medical needs of senior citizens subject to a review
every 2 years by congress, in consultation sa DSWD
(2) All indigent senior citizens shall be covered by the national health insurance program of PhilHealth.
The LGUs where the indigent senior citizens resides shall allocate the necessary funds to ensure the
enrollment of their indigent senior citizens in accordance with the pertinent laws and regulations.
(3) Social safety assistance intended to cushion the effects of economics shocks, disasters and calamities
shall be available for senior citizens. The social safety assistance which shall include, but not limited to,
food, medicines, and financial assistance for domicile repair, shall be sourced from the disaster/calamity
funds of LGUs where the senior citizens reside, subject to the guidelimes to be issued by the DSWD."

Section 6. basa

A salary grade (SG) is a number that defines the amount of monthly payment/income that a government employee
receives. Salary grades in the Philippine government run from 1 to 33, with 33 receiving the highest pay.

Each government position is assigned a salary grade based on its difficulty level and range of responsibilities. The
higher the number, the more difficult and wider the scope of responsibilities are. Thus, those with a higher salary
grade receive higher pay than others.
