MARK JOHN T.

PEPITO
It refers to patterns of the spatial
distribution of individuals and the populace
within a given community and the interaction
of a specific community to its surroundings.
1. Uniform (Highly
Regular Patterns)

Creosote Bushes

In uniform dispersion, individuals of a

population are spaced more or less evenly.
2. Random (Random
Distribution)

Wild Flowers

In random dispersion, individuals are

distributed randomly, without a predictable
pattern.
3. Clumped Together

Deer in the wild

In a clumped dispersion, individuals are

clustered in groups.
Biomes are defined as "the world's major
communities, classified according to the
predominant vegetation and characterized by
adaptations of organisms to that particular
environment”.
A rainforest is an area of tall,
mostly evergreen trees and a high
amount of rainfall (+200 cm).

They are incredibly diverse and complex,

home to more than half of the world’s plant
and animal species—even though they cover
just 6% of Earth’s surface.

The temperate forest is a biome that is
always changing. It has four distinct seasons:
winter, spring, summer and fall.
Temperate forests are located in the mid-
latitude areas which means that they are found
between the polar regions and the tropics.
A desert is an area of
land that receives no
more than 25
centimeters (10 inches)
of precipitation a year.

The amount of
evaporation in a desert
often greatly exceeds
the annual rainfall. In all
deserts, there is little
water available for
plants and other
organisms.
It is a treeless landscape located
in the mountaintops or high
latitudes, and the growing
season of this biome is only two
to three months.

It may have frost any month of

the year, and most of the year,
temperatures are below the
freezing point where only small,
hardy vegetation can survive.
Tundra can freeze in any month.
The taiga is a forest of the
cold, subarctic region.
The subarctic is an area of
the Northern
Hemisphere that lies just
south of the Arctic Circle.

The taiga lies between

the tundra to the north
and temperate forests to
the south.
Area in which the vegetation
is dominated by a nearly
continuous cover of grasses.
Grasslands occur
in environments conducive to
the growth of this plant cover
but not to that of taller plants,
particularly trees and shrubs.
Vegetation type that grows under hot,
seasonally dry climatic conditions and
is characterized by an
open tree canopy (i.e., scattered trees)
above a continuous tall grass understory
(the vegetation layer between
the forest canopy and the ground).
Freshwater biomes cover approximately 1/5 of
the Earth and contain less than 1% salt
concentration.

Small bodies of water, such as lakes, ponds,

rivers, and streams. These biomes are
especially important because most plants and
animals cannot survive without them. In
addition, freshwater biomes vary in size.
Marine ecosystems are aquatic environments
with high levels of dissolved salt. These
include the open ocean, the deep-sea ocean,
and coastal marine ecosystems, each of which
has different physical and biological
characteristics.
The polar ice biome is the coldest place on Earth;
the temperatures always average below 0 degree
Celsius.

During the summer, the sun could shine for 24

hours per day and the temperature would still not
go over 0 degree Celsius.

In the winter, the opposite occurs; there is no

sunshine whatsoever during the winter and as a
result, the temperatures will go even lower than
usual.
