Maajong gabii mga igsoong Lobocanon! Hello to all our dear online viewers sa tibook
kalibutan. According to an unknown author, Music is the strongest form of magic! Do you
believe in that? Indeed, for the past evenings you and I had witnessed the amazing gift of
music of our fellow Lobocanons and take note, mabata man hamtong o’ tiguwang, ang
tanan nakapaambit sa ilang nagkadaiyang mga talento ug abilidad sa musika. All of them
made me really very proud Lobocana. And tonight, another evening of magic, a different
level of magic, something that goes to the very heart of our humanity, our sense of
community, and our souls as we witnessed ang Panag-Indigay sa Awit choral competition.

Welcome back to our program. Excited na ba mo? To those who are actively watching us
tonight, giawhag ko kamo, I share na ang atong live streaming niining atong celebration of music
ilabina sa atong uban pa nga mga igsoong Lobocanon. This is worth sharing my dear friends.
Kining atong programa, panag-indigay man kini sa awit apan, tuguti ako ninyo sa pag-ingon nga
ang duha nato ka choral groups nga mananalmot karong gabiona pulos ni sila mga maayo, this is
actually not a battle of choirs or the selection of the best choir but a sharing of their music hoping
to give as inspiration, kadasig, encouragement, motivation to all the existing and aspiring choral
groups in Loboc, ma-community-based, chapel-based, church-based, school-based ug uban pa.
Sama sa inspiration and pride nga gihatag kanato sa atong pinaka-famous, world-renowned
Loboc Children’s Choir. So, para naho ang duha ka grupo mga mananaug na! Apan, tungod kay
gusto natong masuta ang kahanas sa atong 2 ka choral groups in terms of style, technique ug
uban pa. Ania uban kanato ang mga eksperto sa natad sa musika nga maminaw, motan-aw ug
mopadayag sa ilang kalidad sa atong 2 ka choral groups base niining mosunod nga mga criteria.

Sa gina-ingon ko na, we are so blessed and honored nga uban kanato ang mga banggi-itan
sa natad sa musika nga mao ang atong mga hurado karong gabiona.

Our first judge finished his vocal studies as a performance specialist from the University
of the Philippines College of Music. As a solo vocal artist, he has performed in key cities and
cultural venues here and abroad. As a choral artist, he has extensively toured Europe, United
States of America and Asia as member/soloist of the following groups: Philippine Madrigal
Singers(including the Europeén Gran Prix in Tours, France) the San Miguel Master Chorale
and the Ateneo Chamber Singers ,where he also served as assistant conductor. His education
and experiences have led him to be a much sought-after vocal and choral clinician,
consultant, adjudicator and workshop lecturer, including choral workshops in Europe and
Asia and the nationwide workshops presented by the National Commission for Culture and
the Arts (NCCA), Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Philippine Madrigal Singers
Foundation (Madz Et Al) and the National Music Competition for Young Artists
(NAMCYA). Currently, he serves as Choral/Musical Director of the following: De La Salle
University Chorale, Koro Lasalyano-Manila, Supreme Court Choir, Philippine Vocal
Ensemble and Union Church of Manila Chancel Choir. As a pedagogue, he taught Music
Theory and Voice at the Asian Institute of Liturgy and Music and The Music School of Ryan
Cayabyab. Ladies and gentlemen, our second judge is Jose Emmanuel “Joel” Dueñas Aquino.

Our second judge is an associate professor of Musicology at the University of the

Philippines College of Music. He is the coordinator of the UP College of Music Extension
Program. He is the choirmaster of Novo Concertante Manila, a four-time "Ani ng Dangal"
awardee and is currently ranked no. 3 among the Top 1000 Mixed Choirs of the World by
Interkultur, Germany. He has led his choir to win first prizes in international choral
competitions in Austris, China, Italy, Malaysia, Poland, Spain and Thailand. He has given
workshops in many parts of the Philippines and Southeast Asia, and he has sat as juror in
many national and international choral competitions. He chaired the Choir Category in the
2014 and 2017 National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA), and he has been
the Music Director of the Civil Service Commission Government Choral Competition since
2015. Friends, please welcome, Dr. Arwin Q. Tan.

And the chairman of the board of judges, Bohol’s pride, a choral conductor by profession
and has been trained by experts and very prominent Filipino and foreign musicians in choral
conducting, composition, voice and guitar playing. He finished his Masters of Music in
Choral Conducting at Korean National University of Arts as a scholar under the world-
renowned German conductor-pedagogue, Martin Behrman. He also became a teacher, first as
a full-time conducting faculty of Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music (AILM) in the
Philippines, then to Silliman University teaching Theory and Composition and later on put up
 his own school, SMART (School for Music and Arts Recreational Training) in Bohol. As a
performer, he was a member of well-known choral groups in the Philippines as a guitarist,
percussionist, and a tenor as a singer. Worth mentioning would be the San Miguel Master
Chorale, Philippine Chamber Singers, Ateneo Chamber Singers, and Asian Institute for
Liturgy and Music Chorale, for several years. He became the choral conductor of Tagbilaran
City Government Chorale at the same time appointed as the President of the Tagbilaran City
Council for Culture and the Arts (TCCCA) until at present. He is a member and provincial
coordinator of the Philippine Choral Directors Association (PCDA) since 2017 and lecturer of
its regional conferences. He was once featured at the annual Las Pinas Bamboo Organ
Festival (Philippines) as conductor of the Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music Chorale. He
was once invited as one of the adjudicators for INTERKULTUR’s 6 th Vietnam International
Choir Competition and became a full-time choir consultant for Germany’s INTERKULTUR
and currently serves as the office manager of its satellite office for Asia and The Pacific, the
INTERKULTUR Philippines, based in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. Known for his enthusiasm,
optimism, and patience in conducting and teaching as he continuously enjoys making his first
love; to create, study, learn, enhance, interpret, share and conduct Music. His name is Jewish,
his family name is Spanish, but you may call him Butch. Friends, may I give you the
chairman of the board of judges MR. JOSHIBIAH “butch” GAA DE JUAN.

Kahibaw ko nga nagpanikad na gajud ang atong mananalmot nga mo perform karong
gabiona, apan wait, wait, wait, sa dili pa kita mopadayon, allow me to present to you, another
pride of Loboc, the very promising Lobocanon young artist who won first runner up in the the
first virtual kuradang competition in the province of Bohol and the Loboc Idol Season 2 Grand
Winner, Mr. Benjamin Torotoro Olaer.
