Sheena O’Brien was born in Liverpool. Her parents originally came from Scotland. They were married for
some years but they divorced when Sheena was a little girl. Sheena, who is an only child, grew up in the
suburbs of Liverpool. She began her education at a local school and then moved to a large modern school in
another part of the city. After leaving school when she was 18, Sheena went to university to study
anthropology. While she was at university, Sheena joined a university jazz band and began singing. It was at
this time that she wrote her famous song Blind date. Soon after finishing her university course, Sheena
married Tom Burton, who was a student in the same course. Sheena and Tom have two children: A daughter,
Jenny, and a son, Jason. For a few years the Burton family lived in a beautiful cottage outside Liverpool, but
a month ago they decided to leave Britain and moved to New York, USA. Sheena wants to start her
professional career as a jazz singer and composer.
