The Book Tower
The Book Tower reading scheme provides a balanced and socially relevant way for
children in Pakistan to learn to read and develop their language skills. Moreover,
it is designed to nurture in children a love of books and reading. The Book Tower
Reading Scheme helps by providing students with localised, familiar contexts
and characters with which the children can identify. Each reader in The Book
Tower Reading Scheme has been written according to a precise lexile level. The
complexity of the text is measured by breaking down the entire piece and studying
its characteristics. The outcome is stories that are carefully graded according to the
children’s reading level.
The Book Tower Reading Scheme comprises an initial:
• 64 graded readers across eight different reading levels
• Two activity books with a wide variety of language extension activities
• Tips for teachers and parents on reading together
• A set of questions and discussion prompts for each reader that will help children
get the most out of the books
More readers will be added to the Book Tower Reading Scheme each year, keeping
the content fresh and exciting.
Helen Marjan
The Book Tower Reading Scheme has been written by Helen Marjan, a well-known
