Activity 1 - WHAT IS YOUR CHOICE?

Observe the painting below. Describe the Characteristics of each Paintings/ picture below. Write your
answer on the space provided.

1. How will you describe the pictures above? TYPE YOUR ANSWER BELOW

The first picture gives a certain atmosphere and has more cool colors. Painting B expresses extreme
emotion such as anxiety, agony, stress, and fear.

2. What emotions do these paintings invoke in you? TYPE YOUR ANSWER BELOW

In the first painting makes me feel nostalgic and calm while the second painting gives a chaotic vibe.

3. Describe the Expression and Impressionism Art Movement based on the picture/ paintings above.

Impressionism is not intended to be clear or precise but, it is more on capturing ambiance.

Expressionism expresses feelings by using loud colors. It depicts not the realistic but emotional
perspective of the artist.

4. If you will be made to choose, which paintings would you prefer? Explain your choice. TYPE YOUR

If I will be choosing I prefer Painting A. Painting A gives a more calm feeling while looking at it and I
myself likes calm places where I can reduce stress.

5. Name the Filipino Artists who was influenced and followed the styles of Impressionism Art and
Expressionism Art. Describe their Artwork based on the mentioned Art movement. TYPE YOUR

Fernando Amorsolo and Victorio Edades are the Filipino artists who was influenced and followed the
styles of impressionism and expressionism art. Fernando Amorsolo’s paintings have a distinctive glow
against which figures stand out while, Victorio Edades used exaggerated features, dark tones, and
heave brushstrokes to express intense feelings.

ACTIVITY 2 - Based on the Pictures in activity 1, answer the additional questions.

1. What comes to your mind when you hear the term “modern art”? TYPE YOUR ANSWER BELOW
It breaks the old rules of art and it can be a mix of art styles. It is something new or something
relevant in the present time.

2. Give some qualities or characteristics that make you consider an artwork “modern.” TYPE YOUR
ANSWER BELOW
The characteristics of modern art are fauvism, cubism, abstract, expressionist, dynamic cubism,
Dadaism, and many more.

3. How is modern art different from earlier styles of art that you know? TYPE YOUR ANSWER BELOW
Modern art is more accepting thank any form of art simply because, society has evolved and it is
more accepting to new concepts and ideas and it is more experimental.

4. What do you think is the story behind each painting? TYPE YOUR ANSWER BELOW

Painting A most likely shows a real scenario that happened to them. Painting B shows an extreme
depiction of fear and anxiety.

5. How does the painting represent its respective art movement? TYPE YOUR ANSWER BELOW
In painting A conveys a mood rather than reality which is the key picture of impressionism. In painting
B shows distorted colors and vivid images that create an unrealistic image that shows extreme
emotions.

6. What emotion does the painting have? TYPE YOUR ANSWER BELOW
In painting A has a gloomy and calm emotion while painting B gives a terrified and catastrophic
emotion.

7. What kind of human soul do you think was trapped in the painting? TYPE YOUR ANSWER BELOW
A terrified human soul.

1. What are your feelings while doing the painting/ drawing activity of Stary Night artwork of Vincent Van
Gogh? TYPE YOUR ANSWER BELOW
The feelings that I encountered while doing the painting is happiness because I painted one of the most
famous artworks in history.

2. In your own opinion, does post – impressionism is a great style or techniques in painting? TYPE YOUR
ANSWER BELOW

Yes, because it is new and it uses a different techniques than other art style.

3. Which Art movement or art style/ techniques you prefer to use if you are given a chance to do a painting
activity? Why? TYPE YOUR ANSWER BELOW
I prefer painting an expressionism painting because just in its name itself it expresses the painter’s
emotion or feeling which I can relate to.

The song Vincent is all about the painting of Vincent van Gogh which is the Starry Night. It
describes what the starry night is all about down from its painting and colors and tiny details.

Art can interpret anything and it has no barriers when we relate it as a Catholic student. Art is also being used in our
church and it is a way to express ourselves being a catholic. Everything has and consists art without art we cannot do
these things.
