6. ASSESSMENT
Throughout the year the teachers will collect data and carry out observations of their students’
learning process to help them become aware of their progress and/or difficulties and to provide
the appropriate orientation. In addition, there will be two exams: one in January-February
(January 30st-February 9th) and one in May (May 2nd-25th)1. These exams will account for 30%
of the final grade (February) and 70% (May). The results of the January exam will only be
taken into account for the final mark in May/June if students reach a minimum of 65%
attendance.
Please note that:
• The exams assess the following parts: Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking and Use of
English.
• Each paper accounts for 20% of the whole exam.
• The pass mark is 65%.
• There are NO September exams.
• Class attendance will hardly be enough to reach the necessary standard. You will need to
do extra listening, reading and writing outside the classroom.
• Oral participation in English is essential.
• Students are expected to complete exercises in the workbook after the unit has been
presented in class.
