COURSE DESCRIPTION: General Mathematics
COURSE UNIT: 4 Units
COURSE PREREQUISITE: None

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
At the end of the course, the students must know how to solve problems involving
rational, exponential and logarithmic functions; to solve business – related problems; and to
apply logic to real – life situations.

COURSE POLICIES
1. Submission Policies
• Make sure to submit on time all requirements as indicated in the course outline.
• All requirements shall be submitted 3 days after the last meeting of the semester.
• Submitted files shall be in pdf/doc format.
• Take the online quizzes as announced and turn them in on time too.

2. Academic Integrity
• Students are expected to follow the University’s Code of Student Life which includes
exhibiting the utmost respect for academic honesty, anything less will result in severe
consequences.

3. Attendance
• Students are expected to attend all synchronous classes on time. An accumulation of
respective number/s of absences has a corresponding sanction based on the University’s
Student’s Manual or course rule in terms of attendance.
• Coming to class 15 minutes late is considered tardy. (3 times tardy = one absence)

4. Communication Policies
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Announcements will be posted in our Moodle LMS course page. Checking of messages regularly
is necessary as they contain important information about upcoming activities or class concerns.
QUESTIONS:
Questions related to the course such as clarifications about assignments, course materials, or
assessments shall be posted on our Chats feature in LMS. Classmates may share inputs or insights
to answer the concern. For concerns related to the course which need private discussion with
the teacher, students may use Facebook messenger.
EMAIL/MESSENGER:
When submitting messages, please do the following:
“Good day! Ms. Nellie. This is (COMPLETE NAME), from (STRAND & SECTION). I would like to
ask about (Concern/Task , Week and Message). Thank you.”
Example: “Good day! Ms. Nellie.. This is Maxine Molera, from ARTS A11.. I would like to ask about
our Assignment # 1, 2nd Week. Can we use a graphing paper in solving the given problems? Thank
you.”
Note: Do not send message asking general information about the class.
VIRTUAL OFFICE HOUR:
Concerns and messages during asynchronous session must be sent either through MATH 1 GC
and will also be answered during the announced virtual office hours.

TOOLS FOR EVALUATION

1. Written Exams (Long and Short Quizzes, Summative Tests & Mastery Exams): 40 %
• No makeup will be given for missed quizzes unless with VALID reason and proper
process. If a written test is missed, the test grade that will be recorded is zero.
Formative Tests
• These are assessments that are graded but not recorded. This means that the scores
are recorded in student’s academic record of the subject, but not included in
computing for his/her over-all grade. These tests served as reinforcements,
diagnostics, and aids for student’s learning.
• A corresponding demerit will be given if the student is unable to do such.
Mastery Exams:
• A pre-quarter exam will be given. Some of the items of the pre-quarter exams will be
covered on the major quarter exam.
• No makeup exam for unexcused absence. Missed exams will be considered zero and
be included in the computation of the final grade. Make-up exam will only be given to
students with VALID excuse.

2. Performance Tests and Quarterly Exams: 60%
A. Reportorial
B. Project/Product/Process/ and any Authentic Assessment
• A rubric or criteria will be given for each project or performance tasks given by the FIC.
• A 5-point demerit per day will be received if the student/s fail/s to submit on the given
time.
