INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study

Clothing is one of the fundamental human needs. It cannot be separated

from social life. As time evolves, the function of clothing began to develop. It
becomes a medium to show self-expression. Students’ now use fashion as a
means of expressing their individuality and as a façade that gives us an idea of
their way of life and social standing.

Since fashion became such a huge symbol for gender identity, sexual
identity, and religion. That being the case, students have their own way and
uniqueness to dress themselves, as students have the desire to find and reveal
who they are through clothing. The clothes referred to are not only clothes that
are used in daily activities, but also clothes that are used in certain events or
activities, such as that for work and study.

A society's values are formed and continually changing in accordance with

its beliefs and culture, unlike fashion fads, which come and go. Fashion is not
just a lofty projected image of a reinterpreted good old value to fulfill any purpose
or goal comparable; rather, it is an evocative and refreshing concept worthy of
being portrayed for society's acceptance that strengthens our instincts. A person
starts seeking for a means to improve or minimize his dissonance. Today's youth
work hard to comprehend fashion trends and adopt the clothing choice that most
accurately represents their ideals and distinguishing characteristics as a means
of expressing their feelings.

The allure of visual experience led to the development of everyday attire

and cognitive participation. The concept of anonymous style and personal
expression was initially established by the generation Z mindset rather than the
traditional societal goals of fashion trends. Self-image and self-expression
dominate modern behavior, paving the way for individuality and societal
conformity. From a feudal social structure prevalent before capitalism to a
postmodern social structure, this conduct has evolved. Today's youth frequently
search for fashion-forward clothing options when they are in the identity creation
stage of Erikson's psychological development.

The purpose of this study was to examine students' way of clothing and its
impact on their self-image as a high school student of Paramount School of Arts,
Languages, Management, and Sciences.
