Measure engine oil level - Replace the filter element and engine oil

1. General
This task gives the procedure to measure engine oil level and replace the engine oil.
Before each drive make sure the oil level.
Engine oil and filter element should be replaced at the intervals shown in the
maintenance and lubrication chart.
2. Measure engine oil level - Replace the filter element and engine oil
A. General
(1) This task gives the procedure to measure engine oil level and replace the engine
oil.
(2) One technician is necessary to perform this task.
(3) The estimated time to perform this task is one half an hour for measure engine
oil level.
For replace the filter element and engine oil the estimated time to perform this task
is one hour.

D. Consumable Materials
(1) Engine oil is recommend Yamalube or other with this recommend (SAE 10W-40
or 20W-50 - API SL / JASO MA).
(2) Element oil filter 150 make factor crosser original yamaha
E. Procedure
Measure engine oil level.
1. Put the vehicle on a flat surface and hold it vertical (the slopes cause incorrect
results).
2. Start engine.
3. Warm up the engine for some minutes.
4. Turn off the engine.
5. wait some minutes for the oil to stable.
6. remove engine oil filler cap.

WARNING: Never remove the engine oil filler cap after high speed operation, because
hot engine oil can get out cause damage and injury.

7. Wait oil to cool as necessary then remove engine oil cap.


8. Clean the dipstick and put it back in the oil fill hole (do not thread).
9. Remove the dipstick and measure engine oil level.

NOTE: engine oil must be between the minimum and maximum level marks.

10. if oil is below minimum level, complete with oil to correct level.
11. Install engine oil filler cap.

Replace the filter element and engine oil


1. Start engine.
2. Warm up the engine for some minutes.
3. Turn off the engine.
4. put a container under the engine to collect the used oil.
5. remove engine oil filler cap.
6. remove the engine oil drain bolt and drain the system fully.

7. Examine the washer for damage and replace if necessary.


NOTE: Make steps 8-10 if the oil filter element is replaced.
8. remove the oil filter element cap bolts.

9. remove and replace the oil filter element.

10. Replace the oil filter element cap and install the bolts, tighten to correct torque.
TIGHTEN TO TORQUE: Engine oil filter element cap:
 1,0 kgf.m (10N.m)
NOTE: Examine if O-ring are assemble correct.
11. Install the engine oil drain bolt then tighten to correct torque.
TIGHTEN TO TORQUE: Engine oil drain bolt:
 2,0 kgf.m (20N.m)
12. Fill with the correct quantity of recommend engine oil.
13. Install and tighten the engine filler cap.
QUANTITY OIL:
 Replace engine oil: 1,0L.
 Replace engine oil filter element and engine oil: 1,1L.
CAUTION: To prevent the clutch from move incorrect, because engine oil also
lubricates the clutch.
 Do not mix chemical components.
 Do not use oil that has the CD specification, for diesel.
 Examine the oil specification does not have friction decrease components.
 Examine no unwanted material go in to the motor housing.
CAUTION: After replace oil engine, Examine the oil pressure.
14. Remove bleed bolt then start engine on slow turn and wait until to flow oil.
15. If oil do not to flow by bleed hole, turn off engine immediately and tell help
Yamaha technical support.

16. After examine pressure oil, tighten bleed bolt with correct torque.
TIGHTEN TO TORQUE: Bleed bolt:
 0,7 kgf.m (7N.m)
17. Start engine on slow turn for some minutes then examine for leak.
18. If leak, turn off engine immediately and examine cause by leak.
19. Turn off engine, measure oil engine level and complete if necessa
