MMI Functions Pairing Cell Phone to Bluetooth System
Depending on your cell phone you can pa ir your phone using Secure Simple Pairing or
standard pairing .
Secure Simple Pairing (SSP)
• Vehicle must be stationary with ignition on . Bluetooth system will be visible for 5 min utes.
• Press the ~ button on the MMI.
• Select the Search for new cell phone menu item an d confirm.
• Select you r Bluetooth cell phone in the display an d confirm.
• Select the Handsfree menu item and confirm your se lect ion.

rear lid when it is moving, in particular close to
the hinges - fingers or hands can be pinched.

WARNING
When you leave the vehicle, always remove
the ignition key and take it with you. This will
prevent passengers (children, for example) from
accidentally being locked in the vehicle should
they accidentally press the power locking switch

The hybrid drive automati cally combines the driving power of an int er nal
combustion engine and an electr ic motor for fuel efficient driving.

Driving with th e combustion engine: The vehicle is driven using
only the combustion engine; the high voltage battery is charged as
needed .
Maximum acceleration (Boost) : The vehicle is driven with both the
combustion engine and the elect ric motor. This uses a large amount
of energy.
Electric driving : The veh icle is driven solely with electr icity
depending on the high voltage battery charge level and the
amount of dr iving resistance. The combust ion eng ine is turned off .
EV mode : Enhanced electric driving .
Gliding : When in D and with your foot off the accelerator pedal,
the combust ion eng ine remains turned off up to approximately
100 mph (160 km/h) .
Energy recovery (Recuperation): Generates energy using t he
electr ic motor while simultaneously charg ing the high voltage
battery by brak ing, coasting and/or dr iving downh ill.
The combust ion eng ine is turned off.
Automatic start for the combustion engine : Occurs, for example,
at high vehicle speeds, if the high voltage batte ry charge level is
too low, if the A/C system requ ires a high amount of power, if the
engine temperature is too low or if more braking power is needed.
Tips fo r fuel efficient driving
Starting from a stop: Shift int o D, remove your foot from the brake
pedal and slowly press down on the accelerato r peda l.
Constant driving and gliding (gliding): Accelerate spar ingly,
and completely remove your foot from the accelerator pedal as
soon as poss ible.
Energy recovery (Recuperation): Brake ear ly and st eadi ly with short
pedal movements . Let the veh icle coast to a stop.
City driving : Accelerate spar ingly, and brake ea rly and steadily with
short pedal movements. Use the ~ button spar ingly.
Driving on highways and expressways: Remove your foot from
the accelerat or pedal t o increase the amount of t ime that you
are coast ing. Reduce speed by removing your foot from the
accelerator pedal instead of braking. Avoid driving at speeds
above approx imately 100 mp h (160 km/h) . Use the S selector
lever posit ion and tiptron ic mode sparingly .

Placing a phone call
Dialing a phone number from a call list:

Setting the clock
Select in the MMI: ~ button>
Time control button > Time source >
manual or GPS.
Manual: All menu items displayed are set
manually.
GPS: Time and date a re set by GPS depend -
ing on the manually selected Time zone.
Therefore, when traveling into another
time zone you must manually update
the time zone in o rder for the time clock
to update t o t he correct time.
Voice recognition system
You can operate many MMI func tions comfortably using voice commands .
Requirement: Switch t he ign ition and MIMI on, do not use th e A/C syst em,
do not have any phone calls in progress, deactivate the parking system.
Switching the system on: Press the ~ button on the multifunction steering whee l briefly.
Say your comman d (refer to the examples) after the <Beep> .
The syst em gives visual and audio confirma tion of your input .
Switching the system off: Press and hold the ~ button or say <Cancel>.
Improve recognition function : Select the ~ but ton > Setup MMI control but t on > Voice recognition > Individual Speech Training .
Sample commands
Accessing a directory contact: Say <Call (XY)>,for exam ple, <Call "Max Muste rmann">.
Displaying call lists: Say <Telephone> and then <Received calls>, <Dialed numbers> or <Missed calls> .
Direct "One shot" destination entry: Say <Ent er address> and then say the House Number, Stree t, City and State when prom pted .
