1.
Device Brand/Model: Realme 7
Operating System (OS): Android OS
OS Version/Build: Android 11
Size of the RAM: 8.00GB ram
Processor: Helio G95
Display Quality: 6.5-inch IPS LCD 2400x1080p resolution, 405ppi
2.
A. Describe the performance of your device.
- The performance of my mobile phone is good for low-mid
gaming, but if you test heavy gaming on this phone you will
experience some frame drops. Also, the battery life of this
phone can last up to 8 hours because it has 5000mAh battery. So
far it is the best phone that I’ve ever had.

b. In your opinion, does the operating system affect the overall

performance of your device? Why or why not?
-Yes,it does affect the overall performance of any device
because of updates, if you did not update your OS you will
experience bugs and lags. The purpose of OS update is to
optimize devices and fix bugs.

c. Give five (5) installed applications that greatly affect the

processing speed or performance of your device.
-The five installed applications that affects the performance
of my device are messenger, call of duty mobile, mobile legends,
facebook , and chrome. Those five applications are the most
used apps on my phone, every time I play call of duty or mobile
legends while other apps are running in the background, the
performance of my phone is not good that’s why I need to close
all background apps when I want to play games.

d. In your perspective, is there a possible relationship between the

processor and the display quality of your device? Rationalize your
answer.

-In my opinion, Yes, you will notice the full potential of your
device if you have high resolution display, that is why some
computer gamers bought their gaming monitor based on what their
processor can support. But if you have mobile device you have no
choice because display quality of phones cannot upgrade. When
buying a mobile phone you should consider the display quality
of it.

e. Operating System, RAM, or Processor. Which among the three would

you upgrade first and why?

-If you’re using mobile phone you have no choice but to choose
the operating system, regularly updates your OS can maintain or
optimize the performance of your phone, but if I were using
computer or laptop of course i would choose RAM. One example of
upgrading ram is for faster browsing, internet browsing is
frequently noticeably quicker after a memory update than it was
before. Regardless of the speed of the Internet connection, web
browsers load quicker following a memory boost. A RAM boost can
speed up the opening of flash content in addition to web pages.
This is due to the fact that when the computer runs out of RAM
to store data, it uses the hard drive's memory instead; after
the upgrade, more RAM is available, speeding up browsing.

3.
a. What is the name of the operating system? (2 points)
-Windows OS
b. What is the latest version of the operating system? (2 points)
-Windows 11
c. Who developed the operating system? (3 points)
-While UNIX was spreading beyond Bell Labs, the development of the
Intel 4004 microprocessor in 1971 allowed the concept of a personal
computer to emerge. The Intel 4004 was an entire CPU on a single
microchip. Intel and other companies continued to refine the
microchip, and personal computer (PC) kits that users assembled
themselves became popular among computer hobbyists. Unlike mainframe
computers, personal computers were not intended to have more than one
user at a time and therefore were not concerned at first with time-
sharing or multitasking. Instead, as the PC market grew, emphasis was
placed on convenience and ease of use for the user.

e. Describe the internal architecture of the operating
system. (5 points)
- An operating system is a program that acts as an interface between a user of a
computer and the computer resources. The purpose of an operating system is to
provide an environment in which a user may execute programs.

Hardware

The hardware consists of the memory, CPU, arithmetic-logic unit, various

bulk storage devices, I/O, peripheral devices and other physical
devices.

Kernel

In computing, the kernel is the central component of most computer

operating systems; it is a bridge between applications and the actual
data processing done at the hardware level. The kernel's
responsibilities include managing the system's resources (the
communication between hardware and software components). Usually as a
basic component of an operating system, a kernel can provide the lowest-
level abstraction layer for the resources (especially processors and I/O
devices) that application software must control to perform its function.
It typically makes these facilities available to application processes
through inter-process communication mechanisms and system calls.

Shell

A shell is a piece of software that provides an interface for users to

an operating system which provides access to the services of a kernel.
The name shell originates from shells being an outer layer of interface
between the user and the innards of the operating system (the kernel).
[Wikipedia]

Operating system shells generally fall into one of two categories:

command-line and graphical. Command-line shells provide a command-line
interface (CLI) to the operating system, while graphical shells provide
a graphical user interface (GUI). In either category the primary purpose
of the shell is to invoke or "launch" another program; however, shells
frequently have additional capabilities such as viewing the contents of
directories.

f. What makes the operating system unique? Rationalize your answer.

(5 points)
-Other requirements for an OS include interoperability with
other systems, speed of response, compatibility for a wide
range of hardware, intelligence in scaling, security, efficient
use of hardware, and provision of continuously better (but
backwards compatible) techniques for standard operations (IO
and memory).
