Introduction to Operating Systems (OS)

1. Retrieve the following details about the device.

 Device Brand/Model: MS-7D22

 Operating System (OS): Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
 OS Version/Build: 10.0, Build 19042
 Size of the RAM: 8192MB RAM
 Processor: Intel (R) Core (TM) i3-10 100F CPU @ 3.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.6GHz
 Display Quality: 1366 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)

2. Answer the following items in 3 to 5 sentences only.

a) Describe the performance of your device.

My device performed efficiently. Every component of my device is working correctly. It
also shows a fluid performance that helps me accomplish my tasks.

b) In your opinion, does the operating system affect the overall performance of your
device? Why or why not?

The operating system definitely affects the overall performance of my device. After all, it
is the one that handles most of the computer's components, such as software and hardware. If a
computer's operating system doesn't work appropriately, the computer will not function
smoothly or in its best condition.

c) Give five (5) installed applications that greatly affect the processing speed or
performance of your device.
 Android Studio
 Visual Studio
 NetBeans IDE
 MS Team
 Google Chrome

d) In your perspective, is there a possible relationship between the processor and the
display quality of your device? Rationalize your answer.

It depends on whether the processor has a built-in or integrated Graphics Processing

Unit (GPU). Since the GPU is the one that handles graphically related functions, it has a
connection to the display quality of the computer. If a processor has a GPU integrated, then
both the GPU and the Central Processing Unit (CPU) will share the same memory storage.
e) Operating System, RAM, or Processor. Which among the three would you upgrade first
and why?

Personally, Random Access Memory (RAM) will be my first pick here. All three are
essential parts of a computer, but RAM is the cheapest and easiest upgrade a person can
accomplish on a computer. With a better RAM capacity, more programs will be available to the
computer with smoother performance.

3. Search for another example of an operating system and examine its architecture and
specifications. Then, answer the following items:

a) What is the name of the operating system?

iPhone Operating System (iOS)
b) What is the latest version of the operating system?

The latest version of iOS is 15.6.1.

c) Who developed the operating system?

The iPhone Operating System (iOS) has been one of the leading operating
systems up until now. It is developed by Apple Inc. and used by them on most of their
Apple Products.

d) Cite your reference(s).

%20of%20iOS,version%20of%20macOS%20is%2012.5.

e) Describe the internal architecture of the operating system.

iOS is a Unix-derived operating system. According to various websites related to

the iOS internal architecture, iOS has four layers: Core OS, Core Service, Media, and
Cocoa Touch. Each has different frameworks with distinct purposes that all work
together to maintain stability and efficiency.

f) What makes the operating system unique? Rationalize your answer.

As one of the world's most popular operating systems, iOS offers some unique
qualities. It allows users to develop an application or an extension compatible with their
device's system. iOS also has the first modern digital virtual assistant installed on a
smartphone, Siri.
