Introduction
1) India is an agricultural country. Post-harvest losses and storage loss is to be addressed at a
topmost priority. Food preservation techniques and drying techniques have been evolved out over
the past years.
2) Mass production of crops and climatic change affects the cost and value in the market. Problems
like this making India’s agricultural sector falling back leading to the dissatisfaction among the
fellow farmers. To avoid this problems preservation and drying techniques are used to help the
farmers who are having farms in marginal level (0.5 - 1 hectare area).
3) Our main focus is on drying techniques based on solar energy. Techniques like solar dryer,
Conventional electric dryer, hybrid solar dryer and common open sun drying. This drying technique
adds the value to the agricultural products when there is no satisfying value to the product in the
market. After the complete processing of a product the value is added and thus farmer can sell the
processed product with satisfying value

Responds to the following needs
•Food security and preservation
•Clean energy
Suitable for
•Small-scale farmers and food producers
•Subsistence agriculture

Objectives of work
1) To design and develop greenhouse based solar dryer for drying of grapes.
6
Scope Of Work
1) Design of solar dryer for summer condition and winter condition.

DESIGN OF GREENHOUSE
BASED SOLAR DRYER
❑The idea of a greenhouse dryer is to employ Greenhouse and Greenhouse effect for increase
the temperature inside solar dryer.
❑The roof and wall of the solar dryer can be made of transparent material such as glass, fiber
glass, UV stabilized plastic or polycarbonate sheets.
❑The transparent materials are fixed on a PVC pipes with a Elbow & Tea and rubber packing
to prevent humid air or rainwater leaking into the chamber other than those introduced from
the inlet opening. To enhance solar radiation absorption black surface should be provided
within the structure.
❑ Inlet and exhaust fans are placed at proper position within the structure to ensure even
distribution of the drying air.
❑Designed properly, greenhouse dryers allow a greater degree of control over the drying
process than the cabinet dryers and they are more appropriate for large scale drying

Project Planning
1. We Completed the Greenhouse Based Solar Dryer Design.
2. We Completed the which Material have need to the project.
3. list of the Material need to the project.
◦ Polycarbonate Sheet, PVC Pipes, Elbow And Tea, Rubber Packing
◦ Inlet And Exhaust Fans

Remaining Work:
❖Creating a Model
❖ Some Calculation Needed to on the basis of two season mainly
summer and winter
❖Some Analysis of the model Needed
1.Steady-State Thermal Analysis
To find out the temperature distribution across the cross section of solar dryer
wall we perform a sampling analysis due to software and time constraints.
2. Ansys fluent analysis
To find the heat gain through radiation in a solar dryer cabinet, we performed
analysis in ansys fluent.
